Revision 2014 - April 18th to 21st
category: parties [glöplog]
OK, time to sum up the party in bit longer fashion:
TL;DR
IT WAS MEGALACTIC!!!
And now:
+ Opportunity to meet, talk, booze and hug really awesome people, new and old
+ Live Coding compo!
+ Live-voting!
+ IDs for guests (finally!)
+ The food was really decent (pizza!)
+ Plenty of high quality entries
+ Tons of DJ sets
+ Been 2 times at the big-screen for the 1st time, yay! :)
+ Santa appearing out of blue with a snifter of Waffle
+ United Finnish-Polish Forces of Evil-bot! ;)
+ Strawberries!
+ D-Fox and Styx trolling wasted people in the pee-tunnel at 3. a.m. allowing them to pass to/leave the restrooms only if they've shown their wristbands ;)
+ Spontaneous dancing to the demos projected on the ground by m0d and hits like "Coco Jambo" right after the demo compo ;)
+ Subscription for the calendar with pinup-like naked Scene guys
+ Life-saving coffee standpoints
(Minor) minuses:
- I really wanted to meet, talk, booze and hug with all of you, but the event was so full of activities I probably had to clone myself to be in several places at once
- Live Coding compo, despite of being technically perfectly driven, lacked this kickass spontaneity present at the original one, i.e. at WeCan 2013, where people where cheering up the coders, provided them with beers etc., and to be honest, I think the final works done at WeCan were at better level than Revision's. But I guess next year will be even better and we all are going to fell off our chairs ;)
- I came late to the party on the 1st day and it turned out the gift-packs were there no more :(
- I hope there's special place in hell with Italo Disco 24/7 on a huge loudspeakers reserved to people who let part of Savannah's set collide with the Streaming Music compo ;)
- Lost my gift for Knoeki somewhere :(

back at work and after more than just a few hours of sleep...
I'd like to thank the whole fantastic team for pulling that one off again and of course all you great people making it worth doing the work!
To say something about the event I'd like to quote an outside view from one of the food stand owners:
Also, if you really feel like thanking the main organizers, don't forget the ever-awesome hell-of-an-organizer Madame... :-)

These people are all so nice! An although they booze enormous amounts nothing bad ever happens

This was truly a great year in the history of Revision. Had a great time and so many unexpected, unplanned things happened that you just had to be there for. The culmination for me was the ILLEGAL RAVE featuring Gasman outside on Sunday night ;D. YM version of "My Heart Will Go On" with vocoded lyrics? Do you even have to play anything after that ;D? Aside from that it was great to experience the evenly high quality of the compos with so many noteworthy entries.
Thanks for keeping this great party alive.

Damn, I missed the spontaneous Gasman set, was too exhausted. :-(
And I also couldn't dance to his official set, as I was busy finishing my demo. But it sounded GREAT! Did it get recorded?

To call last weekend 'awesome' would be an understatement.

Thank you, I like Italo! :) Could I have a bit of miami bass mixed in? Thank you!
I'm sure Havoc approves as well, since he let superplek play several sets at Outline.
Well, it's been a while since I visited scene-parties... I have to say I had a great time at Revision. Big thank you to the organizers - you've done a great party! Furthermore, it's been nice to have free coffee, thanks for the pinball machines, and a big thank you to the lady delivering delicious vegan food.
To sum it up, I was just a few steps away from asking: When can I move in?
Handshakes to: Corial, Stingray, Rebb, Premium, ... and especially to the Moods Plateau posse - it's been a pleasure meeting you!

Next time I take the short cut and get you instant drunk to set you straight. ;) Hosting Revision with you was awesome. <3Luckily Moqui was an awesome co-host and took over without anyone really noticing :)
Sceners slept well.

Pants off! Also: I think it's unfair to post such photo of a fellow scener to the internet. If I were you, I'd remove it.Sceners slept well.
He's very unrecognizable, so i don't think it's a problem. :)
And <3 to you too moqui!
Also, i want to post this photo again, because it makes me really happy.

okkie: for someone liking that moment so much, you sure look glum..
leijaa: lel, i was fucked up beyond relief after the weekend son!
Ooooh, so much stuff, so many thoughts. Still in after-party shock, longer post coming soonish, so just a short note: Thank you everyone involved for all the great memories and the hangovers that I had to wash away with vodka and redbull every morning to get to fucking work again. :D
Now off to fighting PPD...

Freshly squeezed Revision pictures sponsored by Argasek, Terrasque, skypers and yours truly are now available on Slengpung - more to come!
Wow, so many things to remember which I can't.
+ DUB Awards was recieved a lot better than expected, thank you!
+ Experiencing the craftmanship of the DUBMarine, awesome work by Mumboz and Salling!
+ Beam Team requesting pepperschnapps for the last compo batch!
+ Getting to talk with even more of the Revision crew, you guys are all awesome and I really enjoy the tradition of crashing the VIP area the last night after compos
+ Talking bollocks with lug00ber during PC and Amiga demo and not really paying attention, you're such a whore dude!
+ Got my revenge on missing most out of last year due to illness
+ The Danes, you make this party twice as fun
+ Santa, for giving me the gift of 3 delicious beers while feeling dead inside right before leaving for home, and looking fresh as fuck while doing so - can't you look wasted or annoying just once in a while? .. no, seriously, you're awesome dude!
+ Food stands was seriously improved in every way - Good job!
+ Coming up with stupid ideas for future productions and awards - and even wrote them down so we can remember (right Puryx? - The game idea)
- Destroying myself on friday so I couldn't participate in handing out schnapps on the 5k run
- Seemingly destroyed the Köln crew's tequila, sorry about that, although you shouldn't have given me some ;)
- Loosing the jacket from my suit, like in fucking dissapeared, but it was still worth it!
- Not bringing enough pepperschnapps
- Letting Styx and Dfox slip away from the VIP area during the last night, not acceptable!
- Talking bollocks with lug00ber during PC and Amiga demo and not really paying attention, you're such a whore dude!
- Game compo seemed like it wasn't prepared that much, but I can easily see the challenges, so you are all forgiven and what an awesome compo!
- Missing out on how awesome the Live Coder compo seemed, was to shitfaced to pay attention
To sum it down, this was EPIC! - And kinda felt like home, so much hospitality, thanks dfox, styx & schnappsgirl. (not that the rest of the revision crew didn't do that, but the three of you rule so hard!)
@Havoc: Thanks for the nice words about the Award preparations, but in my opinion, if it wasn't at least planned as little as it was, I would hate myself :)
Regarding the DUB Awards - we will bring this to you at other parties - and we might give out awards on request as well, but we need proof!

Another massive picture set has been added, stating on page 6, thanks to deltafire for those gorgeous pictures! More to come...
Damn this was a fine party if I might say so. And thanks for the many people hugging me and offering me beverages all weekend long. Still - this is a massive undertaking that wouldn't be possible without all of our organizers and friends. Thanks to all these people I was able to relax a bit during the party.
If you see any person with a petrol Revision organizing shirt - hand them a beer - they sure as hell deserve it.
Our team has people from the following countries: Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Luxembourg, Russia, Great Britain, The Netherlands and Sweden

Meanwhile, awesomeness was happening outside. M0d had set up his micro projector to play some demos, and then in a real life version of the Stone Soup story,
.
I feel I should add that the success of the projector would never have come together at all without the first stage of battery powered amplification supplied by cgi (the person).
It was mental. People saw. ##Song. People Dancing##
So seeing as I still have it on and was reminded, I really liked the wristbands this year. I might have already said that in this thread, but yeah.
I don't need hard numbers or anything, but were they that much more expensive than the solid color "coated paper" ones of last year? (because if not, I think you should do them again. :)
