"fix me ugly" would e the right category judgeing by the shit my (by now bleeding)eyes have to see watching those "productions".
it looks exactly like the streets would look giving a three-year old a car for use in public traffic.

I dont quite get your point (apart from the infantile part of the posting)...

If you do not mind people using .wz you should not complain about somebody adding demos using it. Last time I checked there was no restriction on the quality of productions that are added to pouet. And face it: A lot worse "hand-made" productions are added everyday. It takes quite some time for a newbie coder to get to a level where he can even compete with the ugliest .wz demos.

Stelthz: I'm not sure all those WZ "productions" you submited here were meant to be widespread.

Some of them were merely WZ tryouts for Vectronix forums users. We could also browse gamedev, nehe and flipcode forums, grab all opengl & directx tryouts and submit them here, but that wouldn't make much sense imo :)

My guess is that you should let the authors submit their WZ productions themselves once they feel like really spreading them.

I remember I once read something like "please don't submit this one to pouet yet" on those WZ forums. It says it all.

no matter how you make demos, most important thing to me is to express ideas.

i also agree with okkie, gargaj and others.. =)

keops: well, none of the productions had any notes about not spreading them - and people rarely add their own stuff. I would rather take it as a compliment that somebody else adds my stuff.

But one has to wonder why some persons would not want to have their stuff added to pouet? Maybe it is because of lots of nonconstructive criticism?! I noted "somebody" even had the nerve to bash people who were trying to give helpful feedback instead of complaining and deriding.

To get back to the original point: It seems very obvious now that people apply different standards when judging .wz productions and other productions. Hence I still stand by my claim. Of course I realize that this is a lost cause, because none of you would ever admit anything to me.

not really. if i would see two prods alike, one WZ and one handcoded, but both fucking ugly, i would probably go for the latter - at least that has skill and skillful effort involved.
face it, most new WZ prods seem to be made by people who seemingly have no sense for colors, design, modelling... just "i wanna try out this tool 'cos i heard people make cool shit with this".
I respect that as a learning process but it's about time the 'zeugers realize that demos should involve more than combining the tutorial effects in different colors.

a weird thouhgt just came to my mind.
you see, all these lacking-sense-of-everything wannabe (?) demomakers look much like gamers !
let me explain.
generic gamer : "i dont know how this shit w0rx but it kix ass. actually i dont give a fuck. i enjoy gaming. wow! look !! what a cool screenshot i've just made ! hey, here is a game editor included ! lets's see... ah, quite simple. just load and edit. what are these bars ? umm. some buttons... cool... look, i can change color !! *wweeeee * ! *changing default colors to 0xff0000, 0xff00 and 0xff* l00k, i'm teh leet deziner !"

you know the rest

So, what would count as 'design'?

would this count?
http://www12.homepage.villanova.edu/adric.riedel/CSC1051/scenery.html
randint() powered, but not entirely...

I made it for a class project in my 'let's learn to code in Java!" class (but I just recompiled it without all the stupid 'spring break' text)... (no, it wasn't even supposed to look that good- I was just bored).
