So, that's like the typical "i get back from work" time here, and this has been quite a busy part of day already. Firstly, because I reached the very end of the biggest tinying things up in the place time, which was some kind of pile of documents you just throw in a corner and yeah, well, i let you imagine. In this little part which was lasting, I found some really, really old documents I kinda didn't remember, which i found in my backpack when getting back from Buenzli 2004, my very first demoparty.
This is the "Demoscene: the art of the realtime" - the book. Edited by katastro.fi.
I guess this book got a value. This was definitely not just some piece of paper you could take on the table. I took it, thinking it was a free book. And in it, I found some "CityNightLine" trainticket, bought at the DBahn, from Dresden to Basel. -value: 29€.
It apparently already got stamped by a train controller guy - which surely means it already had no value anymore back in time. But, if this is the case, I definitely feel like a bastard.
I've been an insulting bastard and arrogant prick towards a shitload of persons here, I really am sorry for this. I love you guys, forever.
And I really feel sorry for the person concerned by this "issue", too. Dude, contact me. I'll give you your money back. And sorry if this was a pain for you to get back home, if this was the case.

I don't want to be "that guy" in the thread and perhaps I misread the intentions, but why not offer to return the book? It might mean more to them than the raw purchase price of the book and/or ticket.* Depending on the heft of the book you might end up paying a chunk of that anyway, if that helps you feel right again.

For the record, though, I haven't been in the scene long enough for that to even be close to mine. The thread topic also isn't terribly insightful as to what this is actually about.

* Varies by person and thing, I suppose. I lent someone my combined book of the H2G2 trilogy in college and they didn't manage to get it back to me before I graduated. I ended up telling them to keep it, on the condition they read it some day. However I don't know if I could say that for everything I own. Some things may have more of a sentimental value. I would have liked the first portable media player I bought myself back. I accidentally left it on a plane going to a job interview (I got the job), but anyway ...

This was quite a night, yes. Partying is good for the rock'n'roll, and for honesty. This doesn't give any excuse to the poor title this thread has. Which brings me to the fact that yes, definitely, i didn't write it, it was in the planned "secondly", I will send the book back to this unknown person, for sure. I'm sadly not able to edit the thread title, which would be better as something like "Buenzli 2004 - Unacceptable theft discovered!".

If the ticket was not only stamped but also just one-way (as your post suggests), it was no longer valid by then for sure.

Could really be madenmann, or maybe some random scener who was in dresden at that time.
Given that he had a 29 Euro ticket, most probably a native german.

Well i think it takes guts to admit such a shameful behaviour all open on pouet. So respect for that. It's never to late to do the right thing, imho.
