protozoa by kewlers won bitfilm festival

the bitfilm festiival in hamburg hosted a small demo competition as one of seven categories. they selected 12 entries which were shown saturday and sunday in a 60 minute screening.
amoung other productons, the popular demo, zeitmaschine, IX and gerbera competed. the audience, which consisted mainly of non-sceners, was able to vote via SMS. and protozoa won. i guess kewlers will be contacted soon to get thier well earned pricemoney. the statue (some kind of robot) was taken care by gizmo and will be handed over at the next party were we meet.
the festival organisers got some help from digitale kultur ev and the local farbrausch members to get the demoshow running. the screening were well visited, although not as popular as more "traditional" categories like flash and 3d-animation. there also was a small workshop explaining demos.
jugi and droid were present to do a vj act (which i unfortunatly missed) and a did a small demonstration of their homebrew vj tool. unfortunalty they were under time pressure to catch thier plane and weren't able to show all aspects of thier work.
the location was quite cool, directly at hamburgs famous reeperbahn. there was some kind of dancefloor with 4 screens, and the floor was covered with i-don't-know-the-english-word-things so you could sit down just anywhere. sound was great, too. all demo-shows went on smoothly without problems.
