Revision 2013 - Damages

category: parties [glöplog]
Devistator: well there's the problem. Since we'll never know who put up stickers, the only thing we CAN do is to make sure that people who give away stickers buy proper removable ones - and punish them if they don't.

And to clarify: I like stickers, too. They're cool and some of them are very pretty as well. But I can live without 3-4 hours of sticker removal after the party.

As for damages - the real damage was done by the posters in the tunnel and the permanent markers since the paint goes off really easy if you use duct tape.

For next year, we can discuss having a 20m long tag wall with separate spaces for doodles, posters and stickers. That might actually be cooler anyway.

so yeah, practically everything that has been said already. act responsibly and be respectful towards the organizers.

D.Fox: ah i see, yep its hard to catch without patrolling security guards heh. The big wall sounds like a great idea :)

+1 for the big wall from me.

@d-fox: that doodle wall of 20m sounds like an awesome idea! :)
eh,

Just because we handed out and made stickers doesn't mean we're responsible for people sticking them in idiotic locations.

That's what my Montana reseller was actually saying to the police too.

More seriously, I agree it's a stupid thing to do and I strongly believe that it's not necessarily the fault of TRSI or others... though seriously (again), they could have easily predict this move from drunk sceners.
jco: can you make a scan of your laptop so i can make a sticker from it. That must be one old-ass laptop man!

SagaMusix: Having a download possibility at the Voting section would make ME vote for music entries. :/

make your mark in society, not on society

the ones proposing the sticker wall as mitigation don't appear to understand the appeal of surprising passersby in unexpected locations and the bitter sweet ignorance of the consequences.

solution: ban alcohol :X

People do dumb shit without alcohol as well.
The only true solution would be to ban people from demoparties.

Let's do it!

and i apologize for trying to raise the gfx compos to a progressive level with my illustrations.

Bullshit. Huge prints of compo pictures aren't raising any compo to a "progressive level". Compo marketing is just cheesy.

And it should be clear that "pinning" something to a wall damages it. -_-

unless the prints offer some stuff to enhance the entry itself. you can call that progressive if you like. but you don't have to :-)

actually it is. but can you judge me ? if it isn't for the fun of it what is demoscene all about ?

well, actually i don't think that people can really complain about 6 little holes of 1mm in diameter.
duct tape is the enemy here.
and i don't use it!

...yeah... unless the "little pins" make the thin plaster comine off the brick walls in a rather large area like rather 2 to 5 cm in diameter...

Thinking a bit further than only to the point where one's own profit ends might help here and there...

why now count the stickers and then ask every member of group for an increased entrance fee next year? One 5,- per sticker per trsi-member should be enough to either teach or pay the damage.

Hint: Noone ever complained about the Evoke / Buenzli / Arok / etc flyers.

Actually I prefer calling it an "effort to score an competition advantage". There are compo rules for a good reason and for the sake of equal opportunities they should be expanded to "works shall only be shown during the compos and not elsewhere until the voting is over".

Pins create a damage. I guess there isn't much need to discuss this.

But that's just my opinion and my 2 cents.

Nevertheless ... I did like Forcer's work very much and voted for it.

Like hell I'm paying 5,- extra. I may be a TRSi member, but I have so little to do with those stickers that I didn't even get any.

In France, you don't get arrested for having spray cans, you get arrested if you're caught using them in the streets.

So basically, if I were an orga, I would just kick out anybody doing that.
so apparently the french arent a bunch of nazis and I think the Revision orgas dont want to be either - so throwing anyone caught acting a dick out is a perfectly good solution.

Yes, that's why this idea is brilliant: You can now apply peer pressure to the people who DO have something to do with the stickers, and hopefully you wont have to pay 5 extra euros in 2015.

Of course, the stupid thing about this idea is that people might start putting up stickers with names of random groups they want to take the piss out of.

I was waiting for this to come up. I like stickers. I have tons of stuff covered in them. I also like the whole "putting stickers on peoples clothes" thing. Please, don't stop making stickers, just stop putting them in places where they don't belong. There are plenty of places to put them, including about 800 drunk sceners that you can use as walking stickerwalls.

Exception: If you visit Datastorm, covering the place in stickers is mandatory. :)

Just ask for permission first and/or use your common sense. They can actually damage some clothes.

I´m with Topy here.
Having been an Orga at Revision, having removed several hundreds of Stickers inside the Hall, i still dont care, it was a lot of work for sure, but i see it as a Traditional thing to do. And not bringing your best clothes to a party is a given thing to me. I put stickers, any i get, on my own clothes without others having to pin me.
Ofcoz i see the problem if stickers are Cheapmade and this way hardly removable, if its even removing color off walls its not any good anymore and causes organizers fiddling around with that stupity for several unplanned hours.
So if we continue with Stickers we all should pay some more into stickers and dont post em everywhere anymore. i think thats doable!

But please let us keep the old Traditions!
