SandLover: haha thanks, I'm mostly just a novice when it comes to jazz though :). I don't honestly listen to newly released music all that much. It's not that I'm avoiding it, but I just rarely seem to run into recent released that interest me all that much. I'm sure there are a lot of good albums released last year, but I just haven't looked into it yet :). I did hear one quite nice piece from a local very little known band:

Mostly just a nostalgia trip to what popular electronic music was some 20 years ago, but it's very well executed and doesn't just copy old ideas but also blends ideas from more recent conventions. Free for listen at https://soundcloud.com/konevband, also available on vinyl.

I was not just referring to the jazz selection, but your posts in general. Gave Madlib (Shades of Blue) a try and that sounds great. Will have to listen to that album some more in the near future. Thank you for that.

Pilotpriest - original motion picture soundtrack. Some kind of retro scifi synth music, feels a bit like discovering a lost classic 80s synth record :)
