Sad fact.

So graphists are using pre-made brushes?

yeah i mean i always wondered, that barely visible motif that doesnt contribute anything except from minor detail to a distinct large image, i mean obviously it mustve been stolen.

since this isnt a blatant 1:1 rip im not sure if its worth the drama.

sure it would have been nice to ask for permission or give credits and i understand that kenet is a little bit butthurt (alltho i can also see how the information of the "original artist" can get lost when you have a folder with shitloads of brushes/pixelworks), but this is a scene-logo and not some commercial work.

the better half of the internet is fighting against rigid copyright laws that forbid remixes and mashups (be it music or gfx), maybe a little bit of that spirit wouldnt hurt the scene as well.

having that said, i greatly respect both, kenet and h2o, for their gfx-work, allthough their approach in creating them is different.

Cool logo! It's only showing its demoscene context in a visual way... :)
Same goes for the logo as a whole, build on demoscene tradition. Seems many 'gfxians' only take inspiration from eachother. Which also goes for Kenet.
I wouldn't be offended myself, as the logo doesn't lean on these relatively small details at all.

That spirit has been well-defined in the scene for decades, it's just that it's common to ask first or at least attribute the original artist.

PARASIGHT?! where have you been?

I think its lame to use it but it doesn't impact the image that much (but its what Kenet feels about it that actually counts here), actually I haven't liked these random motifs in h2o's work for a long time.. time to make it clean without the faff!

maybe things were a little bit different "decades" ago where almost all images where handpixeled and there was no internets which makes it uber-easy to get material these days. tradition is fine but when circumstances change drastically calling on tradition isnt always the right thing to do.

note that im not saying stealing work is ok, there should always be credits given and permissions gathered, i just think its not that big of a deal anymore, esp. if its just a tiny detail.

but yes, i think the original artist should have the last word in this debate.

It was never the plan or my intension to copy over from other artists, my fault was using random brush sources from the internet, which seem to like scene work also !

It's not my war, so i'll just stick to reply to this one:
No, h2o, noone does that. Creating pixel graphics is starting from zero, not using pre-made brushes. At least that's how I always learned it.

BUT i have to say, instead of cleaning this issue out in a 1:1 conversation, you prefered to flame with all power on FB and POUET
that feels very medieval for me ... So lets put him on the "Pranger" ...

You saw kenet noticing it LIVE. Facebook was displaying that eye in the comments thing when kenet pasted it, why didn't you just say "Okay, sorry, i'll remove everything and apologize". You just disappeared, deleted your facebook account for some minutes and removed everything related to that issue. I don't know, when I notice I made a mistake, I'm the first one showing up and talking to the concerned persons about it.
We thought you didn't want that 1:1 conversation but rather were trying to flee away, thus the reaction about posting it.

irokos: a public discussion on facebook isn't exactly a 1:1 conversation either :)

D.Fox: You're completely right about that. But knowing how comments are handled by facebook and how they are shown in real time, using the same media would have been a possibility, even if not the best one.
