i think one should be able to gain scenepoints light with this.

scenepoints light (SPL) are like regular scenepoints (SP) but only valid for the healthy food and drink stands (and that means no alcohol nor wurst for you!)

lee_n did it with LCHF (Low Carb, High Fat) - the same I'm doing now as well. Lots of above-ground green vegetables, lots of natural fats (butter, coconut oil and olive oil), moderately meat, fish and dairy, no sugar or starch at all. So no sandwiches, beer, pasta, rice, potatoes, candy, pastries, potato chips... But lots of good steaks, creamy sauces and fresh salads! Also dry wine and clear alcohol (like vodka) is allowed in moderation :)

jenni: I did that last year, lost 10kg in 6 weeks and got a kidney stone because of malnutrition as a thank-you (4 months pain, 1 week in the hospital).

So - I'm not doing that again even though it worked quite well.

Concerning the fat-issue it is important to know *what* type of fatty-acids in which general combination contributes to one's health.
A thing we really have too much of is saturated fatty acids (e.g. dairy products like cheese,butter a.s.o, meat & sausage and most important: the goddamn convenience "food" ).
The last one even containes trans-fatty-acids which is totally useless, hence it's better to go for the good ol' butter instead of margarine.

Then there are the single-unsatiated fatties like olive oil and nuts.
Those are helpfull but should be measured with care.

The ticket are the multi-unsatiated fatties ( Omega 3-6-9) especially the "3" which is an essential
part our body needs to maintain a proper metabolism, and it can't be produced out of other fatty acids
so we need to do an "import fats.Omega.Three.*;"
And the best combination of Omega fatty acids is provided by linseed oil together with sunflower- and coconut oil. Since I'm already on a rant I might add that heating fat/oil destroys the helpfull parts of the oil - therefore rendering it useless. Adding the oil after the heating when the meal is on the plate is the way.

Oh, and since we are essentially a "bag of water" ... Kaltes, Klares Wasser ... without bubbles xD
Because Liver & Kidneys love clear untampered water - really no-brainer.

Demoparty weekends are ofcourse excluded from that fat-issue :)

D.Fox: What was your daily meal plan like if you ended up to hospital with kidney stones? :( First thought was if you ate lots of protein, which your kidneys couldn't properly process (the recommendation is about 1 gr / weight kilo, or 1,5 grs for weight lifters.)

doDgE: Human body needs saturated fatty acids as well. If you think about it, our body fat is saturated, so is the fat in mother's milk that we drink the first ~year of our lives. If saturated fats were as dangerous as the media tells us, people would be allergic to themselves. Also, too low body fat causes hormonal problems - women lose their periods and become infertile, so avoiding saturated fat isn't good.

The problem with polyunsaturated fats is that they should be consumed in cold-pressed form, like sprinkled on top of a salad. If you cook with polyunsaturated fats by heating them in a pan, their molecule structure breaks down and they become oxidized, which is considered to be carcinogenic to certain extent. Saturated fats have solid molecule structure and can withstand heating in higher temperatures.

We get too much of Omega-6 from our diet, since most of the industrial food is made with corn, sunflower or canola oil. Modern diet might have even 9:1 more Omega-6 than Omega-3. Foods rich in Omega-3 are fatty fish and flaxseed oil. An ideal ratio of Omega-6 and Omega-3 should be 1:1.

In addition to drinking just plain tap water, it's good to drink natural mineral water (that has magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium) as well to maintain the optimal salt levels in human body. With too little salt in our diets, there might be problems with nerve responses and muscle functions.

I'm my own human experiment. I started low carb, high fat diet because my blood tests became back very worrying in the beginning of this year. By eating a diet which is rich in vegetables and natural fats, and has enough protein for muscle regeneration, I've not only lost weight, but managed to correct my blood values by lowering my cholesterol and improving my liver function. Also my blood pressure has gone down from 150/90 to 130/80 in about four months. I don't want to sound like preaching, but if somebody wants to follow this approach, I'm happy to give advice :) Low-fat diet didn't work for me, it just made me sicker.

jenni: I basically tried to stay away from everything with carbs like bread, dough, noodles etc. and ate meat, salad, vegetables and also dairy products. I usually had peanuts for snacks if I had a craving.

I'm also predispositioned to liver problems since my father had his share of kidney stones as well (they tell me). My doctor told me that losing lots of weight with a diet where you leave stuff out often leads to kidney problems of some sort.

To make it short - I won't try to completely leave out stuff anymore but I'm trying to eat with a proper schedule, like no carbs in the evenings and generally more fruit and veggies. Let's see where it leads me :)

we need to put lower limit as a registration rule. those with 63.99 kg that "tries to loose a few pounds more" are seriously demotivating (at least to me).

registration process should be something like this:
"please enter your weight" - "xy kg" (where xy<100) - "we're sorry, but your sceneid account has been permanently banned from this site."

I kinda have to agree with bonefish. Those who have +20 or more kilos to lose are feeling bit confused by normalweight people joining who don't really have anything to lose, since they are already at normal weight. Should there be a limit that you're only allowed to join if your BMI (yeah I know, bad way of measuring) really exceeds the normal weight range (like BMI 27 or more)?

I don't really want to start shutting people out, but it weirds me out a bit in a sense that what's the point of joining for people with normal weight in a weight-loss challenge that clearly was originally meant for people to whom weight is indeed a potential health risk in the future, unless they do something about it.

Well, everybody is welcome and there are people who think they're not thin enough even though they look perfectly fine. Those people might need motivation, too.

We could group people into weight-categories, like at the olympics :D But that might discriminate the really big ones :) So... no clear win-win here either :)

Or we can make the categories fun:
50-70kg: the bulging weasels
70-90kg: the soft sheep
90-120kg: the cuddly bears
120+kg: the lovely sealions

I'm not <70, but not exactly overweight either. I joined this great initiative primarily to cheer for friends and acquantances and offer motivational thumbs up!

The other thing would be like FLT and ASD banning everyone else from Pouet because everyone else's projects seems utterly unimportant and boring compared to theirs ;)

jenni: I'm pretty much "normal weight" for my height, but I should lose a bit still. I'm not really fat to look at, but still i have a little spare tyre round the middle. It depends on many things, not just the simple size and weight. E.g. you can imagine a really skinny guy with a huge 20kg afro getting classed as obese by the doctor's chart :)

Anyway, my advice* for losing weight: eat less. Forget all the bullshit diets, if you're putting on weight you're eating more than you need and your body is storing it, that's all you really need to remember.

My advice* for eating less without feeling shit all the time because you're starving: keep yourself really busy with stuff that interests you. If I get bored with nothing to do, I have time to notice that I'm hungry, then I start looking for something to eat, and then I can't be arsed to cook something so i eat some snacks. If i'm busy I forget about food and drink and just get a regular meal instead.

* May not work for everyone. I've known some people who seem to eat continuously when they're busy, because they need to keep their energy levels up. Some people lose weight when they're busy + stressed, others put it on.

It's not a black/white thing. We need our mother's milk because our body is in expansion and
is building up very rapidly. But when this early grow- rallye is done, we don't need that kind of
nutrition ( mother's milk ) anymore and mommy's "well" will run dry eventually anyway :D
Allthemore the mother's milk provides the necessary enzymes for the baby-body to split them up in
the right parts, a feature cow milk doesn't come with because the calf is born with the capability to
produce the "key" enzyme for the milk it gets. Once it's big enough momma-cow starts weaning the
calf from her milk, the enzyme production stops and that animal usually never drinks milk again.

In adult life the need for satiated fats is rather low unless one is exposed to heavy physical activity.
So, if you're an athlet training for hours ( burning fat starts at ca. 30 min. of continuous workout ) three
times a week or if your day usually consists of many physical activities, you need "combustable material,"
and your body, if not fucked up by chemicals, will give you appropriate signals.
Otherwise we need remakably few of those satiated fatty acids to run a normal life.

To clarify, I love cheese and the occational meat, hell I'm a Thuringian after all :)
But from my own experience I had to re-discover how much energy there is in one steak and
that one of these will last you for more than half a day with normal activity. But the steak alone will
not provide you with all the rest your system needs to run the show efficiantly, hence the right measure.

The ideal combination of Omega 3 : 6 according to my sources is 4:1
... sources differ depending on the actual target audience of the study.
For about two years I used fish-oil supplements for the O-3 and recently changed to a better one
extracted very carefully ( no light, low temperature, gently pressing method - the works)
from linseed, coconut, sunflower and evening-primrose oil providing the Omegas 3,6 & 9 in a ratio of 2:1:1.

With untampered water I meant "untampered by the industry". You know what those PR freaks do to sell
more crap to people who are looking for a tasty way (that flavoured "wellness" bollocks ) to health ;)
when filtered still spring water tastes absolutely great in the first place - preferably in a dark glas bottle,
just as any halfway decent seed oil should be.

As for muscle regeneration ... I guess ... moving them should not be underestimated as well.
