(as usual) A massive thank-you to anyone involved. This was the best Evoke for me so far.

Thanks to the organizers and especially the stream team to let all the sofasceners have their share of the party! You did a great job and deserve a hug ;)

We are still on the road travelling home but wanted to say that this was an exceptionally great party and that the organizers should be proud of their acheivement. I was especially pleased with the clean and well stocked toilets, which don't usually get a mention.

Excellent party!

I posted a little status on Facebook earlier which some folks might appreciate but don't know me on there.:

@sceners: We're on our way home from the massive party weekend that was Evoke.

We are currently stopped at a service station lying on a blanket and the wife on a sleeping mattress. We had such a great time, but very very exhausting!

A lot of you may be wondering when the video footage we recorded will be available, as well as the hoard of photos we took together. Well as you can imagine there is a lot of stuff to do. It will take a considerable amount of time to get stuff processed, titled, uploaded and tagged so keep your eyes peeled over the coming days. I will be announcing stuff on twitter as I leak the stuff slowly onto the net via @mzerod :)

One small disaster occurred at the end of the 4k compo so we lost the last entry. The camera malfunctioned (overheating I think) but as far as I know we have everything else (that is visual), as well as photos and a tonne of audio recording from the DJ and performance sets. The audio will be tied to scenesat.com :)

This is m0d and Silverlance, over and out. Ksssshk.

Thanks to the whole evoke-team. It was a great event and I finally got to know some sceners personally. :)

Great party as per use!! And when your not feeling all to well and are sitting at a table on the way to the toilets (yes, that was intentional) p. much everybody that passes will ask if you are ok and if they can do something for you, scene spirit! <3

Also cTrix owned all kinds of ridic ass bones all over the place!! Cray!

This party was massive. Best weather, best live act (cTrix), best people. Thank you all for being there, been meeting a lot of great people. And I cannot repeat it often enough: Having cTrix as a live act is about the best thing that can happen to a demoparty!

On to the compo side of this...
Given that there wasn't a single XRNS entry (just as there were only a few, if any, in the last few years), I'd still suggest to remove XRNS and MO3 from the tiny tracking music compo. Lossless sample compression makes the whole compo concept pointless. I use MO3 because I can (TM) and manage to put a 1MB tune into 64k that way, but that doesn't mean that it's a reasonable thing to do. Removing compressed formats from that compo would probably make something more interesting again.

And concerning the graphics compos... I cannot work any significant difference between the two compo descriptions (and by the way, it's "lossless compression", not "flawless compression" :) and the compo entries kind of reflected that - like the one which looked pretty much like a pencil drawing with added colour gradients - in the pixel compos. Why not work out some more distinct rules for the next time to finally clean this vague separation up at last?
saga musix: you are right. we will rethink and modernize some compo rules before next evoke. we are also discussing things like exe music/procedural graphics compos etc... maybe we should let the people vote...?

btw
we included a webgl demo in the demo compo, because it felt wrong in the alternative platforms compo.
i really would like to hear opinions about this :)
