Do you prefer knowing what you can win, or you like the surprise ?

category: general [glöplog]
What to prefer ... i actually dont know, but maybe you could come with some inputs on for and against.

Like.. if the prizes are nice, would you then make a contribution for the party if possible ?

This is something to think about as a party org...

you can keep your prize or you can exchange it for what's in the box!

Yes.. Some of us need money to keep our CANCERMACHINES alive..
I havent won enough during the last two years, and as a result of that my a1200 wont play with me anymore... Luckily I still have the best amiga ever; a laptop with xp & winuae..
Well ... i might be an idea for smaller parties to get more contenders by telling what you can win..

But would you care for the party to tell you or not what the prize is...

I've never felt so good at a party before when Pehu announced the winner of Asm04 mobile compo.

So winning by surprise!

i never mind the prize, i don't care, if there is no prize it's the same, only the fame is cool for years!
so i prefer to not know the prize before
heh, just noticed I read the question wrong but anyway suprise is always nice.

I share Zone's opinion.
And actually hearing the audience reacting positively to your prods during the compo is already a great feeling.

i actually thought the topic was "Do you prefer knowing that you can win, or you like the surprise?" which is a bit more interresting i guess. :)

knowing what you can win is boring imo... that's why do my entries to altparty... ;)
Well. At least I like surprises.

Besides winning is good enough prize as itself for me :)

just give me all the prizes and you wont have this problem any more.
yeah, thought the same as gloom.
well.. its more a question if a new or unknown party should do this to get more contributions/visitors... so do you think it's a good idea to tell what you could win to get more visitors ?
added on the 2004-10-05 18:32:46 by dwarf dwarf
i think you'll hardly get more visitors with big prizes.

I'd visit an unknown party and contribute for the sake of contributing. Prizes aren't essential in any way..

dunno about getting more visitors, but personally big prizes do make it more tempting for me to contribute. i'm a laz... *cough* busy man with no time to waste on petty immaterial compos! :)
