I think 1k is a bad choice, but they probably know better. Already planning a protest-64k for the demo compo!

why not merging competitions into combined competitions when there aren't enough entries in a given category?

nystep: I also prefer some more dynamic compo scheduling approaches... but given that is a gamer party - well - go to real demoparties instead.
I guess we'll see a truckload of web gl / javascript stuff in this compo. But yeah, a 16k compo f.e. might have been a more interesting direction.

How much I do dislike that they cancelled the 64k compo at this years ASM, I do realize, that it has been difficult to gather enough entries to justify the compo in the previous years.
I guess 64k compos will be a highlight at other parties than ASM in the future.
