I'm definatly getting one... no idea what I'll do with it, though..
I hope they don't take to long to release the shell/case for it. I can see mine getting covered in all sorts of stuff in no time otherwise. Can't wait to get my hands on one (or more) that's for sure.

Why would you want AROS on that thing?
It's a really nice idea, but then unfortunately, the lack of GPU specs ruins it for me. You'll always be stuck with Linux (and if you're lucky, maybe some day some other OS?) if you want any graphics performance.
I just don't get why the GPU guys are so secretive about their specs. CPU designers give out comprehensive manuals for free, without NDA, with all details, and it's not a problem for them... but for GPUs it's suddendly all a big secret. Silly... and keeping me from buying stuff like that.

Yeah. Specially important in a platform like this.
Guys, don't forget it's designed with BBC BASIC in mind, HDMI was just a cheap option afterwards...

Some kind of RTOS with more direct access to the HW would be great indeed. While I don't know how 3D drivers and such are implemented under Linux here is the commit to the Linux kernel with support for the chip.

That would give it the same GPU power as the PS Vita. And the CPU power of an iPhone 1. If it's true, they made the most unbalanced SOC ever :D
don't see the point, it's just an underpowered PC. I'd rather get a minimig.

Well, if it's true they've made an extremely unbalanced chip, if it's not true they're talking out of their arses.. it's kind of a negative outcome either way.
On the other hand, if the gpu IS that powerful it'll be a lot of fun to make demos on it! If not, it's still an intriguing little box to play + learn on and it still costs beer money. (Except in certain scandinavian countries, where it's possible cheaper than a pint.)

I'll buy one. In the worse case scenario it will be used as a media center or similar. In the best case scenario I'll use it to watch demos.

I really dont see the point of this...
The HW is not interesting,
its nearly impossible to build a custom OS because of the GPU,
its the same HW (minus wifi, IR, etc..) then cheaper devices like the roku 2,
(once you add the price of power adapter and cable and shipping)
And for HW tinkering, this is nowhere near Arduino

It is about one third of the price of a Roku 2 XS (with Ethernet+USB) plus Streaming doesn't seem to work in non-US countries anyway. Wifi and Bluetooth can be added cheap if needed. You have an UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, so wtf do you want else?

@T21: The point is cheap computers for schools so they can teach programming instead of IT. Anything else is a bonus. :)
