.werkkzeug 3 released
category: offtopic [glöplog]
No blood for me, I'm on a diet.
omg KB. haven't you gotten that message: "I don't really care about my flat system" and that "crash report" was meant to be a lil funny. not angry. also pointing fingers like fun wise isn't that much trouble. Is it?!
also... if you go back to page 1 you might notice that .reEto gave us a warning about the crashing behaviour. and even I discovered some bugs in the hidden code. which is not intended to be run anyway as the TE version that is. So I knew it would happen somewhen. So why should I be any serious. Come on. You stiff or bitter about nothing?!
Enjoy.

Because this is your THIRD post about the topic and you're STILL going on about how WZ seemingly fragged your PC (well thank you for obviously skipping eveything I've written in the last few posts), and you even bring "proof" this time. Thank you for "clearing" that up!
A short hit on your head with the cluebat reveals: Reeto was completely talking out of his ass. He though it was funny or for some fucked up reason even helpful to spread shit like this to scare away people from "illiegally" toying around with wz3. Well, surprise, it ISN'T.
Again, "this program destroys your PC(/OS)" is not a particularly nice thing to say. Especially if you've got not the slightest fucking idea whether it is actually true. And especially because stuff like that belongs to 1990s fairytales and certainly not to the world of modern software and operating systems.
And again 2 (because you didn't read it the first time): There are bugs in wz? OMG. REALLY? Simple statistics say there's probably a few hundred or thousand bugs in every piece of software that size. But simple statistics also say about zero of them are lethal to your computer. So really, STFU. I mean it.
Also, in the end, the demoscene is pretty much based on trusting other people to not mess with their computers or the data on them. Just look at how many random, unknown executables an average demoscener downloads from the net and starts per _month_, and every computer security person would just drop dead in desperation. Because it's an decades old implicit rule that we in the scene _trust_ each other not to trepanate the other person's Windows. So guess how funny it is when some random person starts spouting shit about "don't trust these guys, their stuff destroyed all my data". Hint: NOT AT ALL. And that's why I won't "ease up" about this.

For some reason this reminds me of a prize my boss donated on behalf of the company to some local high school achievement award. He did it because he thought it would be a nice thing to do. (It was an iPod or something like an iPod. I wasn't involved, and don't really care about such things...)
But the winning student came back to complain that they did like the prize because they wanted a better one. (More storage or something.) My boss couldn't believe his ears! "Sorry kid, you get what was given."
Well... The kid then had his parents come in and complain, and even threatened to sic lawyers on us! Of course my boss just said, "take it or leave it." They took it, and needless to say, no lawyers ever materialized.

"didn't like the prize"
Sorry. Should've used the unreadable "preview" button.

Well. I never said something like "this program destroys your PC(/OS)" or "don't trust these guys".
Also I wouldn't even be here, if I'd not blindly trust all sceners. I'm downloading and running tons of demos myself. So.....
Anyway. This' not scary at all. I'm still toying around with it. So what?! :)
And yeah. I'll stop posting now. Maybe it was a bad idea to say anything about it at all. Sorry.
Didn't mean to make you kinda justify it. -.-

I did WHAT? How about you just stop. Really.
Ach. Bin ich 'n Idiot. Ist doch aber auch egal ob und wie und warum sowas passiert. Einfach ignorieren und weitermachen. :)
.werkkzeug 3 has a bug where if you change the correct bytes in the executable, it'll actually format your hard drive while a duck.3ds rotates on the screen with the scrolltext "lol, quisten hacked kebbys computer!!!". True story.
Cool story bro.
kusma: i always liked that 180k patch that turns fr-08 into debris. i thought that was quite an improvement.
Was is'n hier wieder los?
I had explained werkkzeug 3 .ktx format. KTX-files is produced by werkkzeug 3 texture edition and intended to be used with Texture Generation Library, which is non-free software.
Explaination of KTX file format is first step of creation OpenKTX library, which will help many demomakers to improve size and quality of textures.

Many demomakers? I don't think a lot of demomakers use Werkkzeug 3.
".Werkkzeug Hacking Centre"
that is beyond any imagination, bro.
that is beyond any imagination, bro.

This datatype is great win to conserve space.
guys we shouldn't go hard on Sauron he a saved a person's life. proof here.
still no full documentation for WZ3 ?
I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!1
im very new to this demomaking. sauron, can you explain why is .ktx better to conserve space than let's say .zip or .rar?!?!? i think reversing winrar is much more interesting on the long run!!! is it not?
/me *popcorn*
there are also rumors of another powerful farbrausch demotool called altona that exists since 80s. could this be hacked as well just to complete the set?

KTX is format of procedural texture generation. It is more better to save algorithm of texture creation in demo.exe than saving rar or zip-compressed textures.

You can download source code of RAR from author's site.

It is not demotool, it is framework (set of libraries) used to create werkkzeug4. No source code of altona is available. Also: it exists approximately since 2006-2007.
