and I can't see sonnet/3state (64k) in the list? Sonnet is definitively a top10 prod imho.
Please add a comment to that prod so it makes it to the top. and add comments and thumbs up to the best demos/intros you think.

Higher State/3SC is the best demo for ZX Spectrum 48k :)

codename chinadoll and square should definitely figure high on the best demos list if I was deciding... but on the other hand, I'm not, some shapeless public is :)

it's useless to argue about demo tastes, they run all ways nowadays - ten years ago it was probably easier, since the fundamental criterion for ranking demos was the quality of the code. now it's about "art" or possibly "entertainment".

Many people love vip2 and state of mind; I never got to like either. if you're a finn who was around in 95-96, your favorite demos probably would still include x14 and stars, for example, but I feel these demos just don't mean much to a new viewer, honestly. my favorite intro is still nation zero part 2, but I couldn't objectively say it's "the best ever" :)

well, we all know the best demos ever were made on amiga, and the top10 list doesn't feature a single amiga prod. thus it can be said this list is shit ;)

more seriously: everybody likes different demos. we could never agree about a common top10. this is why i believe a thread like this is not needed, doesn't make any sense. it's boring to discuss about this topic. :)

Hmm... My favorite demos are State of mind, VIP2 and En haluaisi olla, for 64k intros maybe Heaven 7, 003 and Rand. At least at the moment. I don't like hplus or fr-08 and I _hate_ Sonnet.

We will obviously never agree to some demos are being the absolute elite, there are some many demos and so different tastes...

But top lists like here in pouet are magical for people who love numbers and statistics. Sometimes you can also draw few personal conclusions with their help.

The top10 on the front page is not bad, it just has to change a little, as explained in detail here.

A top10 list is not really important, imho. The way of checking out popularity is simply by looking at comments by people whose opinion I value and whose aesthetic values I (partly) share. Granted, that may not be a whole lot of people, but still.

saint, te-2rb on the demo category are the ones I just can't keep off my mind I love those prods. Ah! in private circles I happen to worship MFX, as well.

But of course, 'tis my opinion.

IMHO hplus and te-2rb definately should be on the top10. Then 303, Robotnik and Hyperventilation are also some of my all time favourites. And MFX-stuff too.

That's just to mention a few. If I should decide my all-time favourite I just couldn't decide ;)

But of course it's really pointless to argue about these things, because there's at least as much different tastes about demos as there is about music (some like polka, some like hardcore)

I would like to see demos from other platforms than PC inside the Top Ten list, but that's too hard to happen..

the top 10 could take only the first place from *all* of the categories for each platform. pc prods would still be on top, but other systems had a chance too in that case. anyway, i don't give a damn about the content of the top10 :)

The best demos are the ones that have yet to be made. (Ditto for intros.)
