blkpanther: no more of those "I-will-help-pouet" scripts please, your previous ones were a disaster and 2 years later we still have to clean up your mess with all the dupes and wrong groups affiliations.

oh plz not again that!
Those are rzr-youtube videos we have linked to our webpage...hand-picked. All I did was just join the db-flags and pasted it here. Ignore it then.

And the csdb adding i did wasn't that a horror as you always say. Simply make a delete of all I have added with csdb-dl-links and stop wining. It wasn't that much dupes as you always say. :(
blkpanther: yes, "that again", because we still have to deal with it nowadays, most of the work being done without posts on this thread.

There were a lot of dupes and tons of wrong groups affiliations, because different groups with the same name exist(ed) on various platforms, which your script totally ignored.

One of the MANY examples we had to clean: Rez's post about the Eclipse stuff you submitted http://www.pouet.net/topic.php?which=1024&page=633

And I will "wine" and point it out as long as there is some shit coming up with those kinds of scripts that give us unnecessary work because people don't want to do things manually and properly.

You didn't wanted help that day when the problems have been noticed. A simple change in the code would have fixed most of the problems. There even was/is a "manual mode" in the tool I did. So why didn't you delete all of my prod-adds with csdb then? Well guess its not the right place to discuss it here so I better stop before mr.keops gets another heart attack.
bp:
But still. Many C64 releases are mixed with Amiga (PC) ones just because some groups had the same name, but they were not the "platform evolution".

The pb is to check it, all of that. Who has such a scene knowledge to correct all of that?
added on the 2011-01-05 15:37:28 by sim sim
yes i know that was always a problem. those stuff could simply be left out for later checking or check if at least one prod-name was in both group listings or other reference checks. At least it was possible to clean the stuff automatically a bit...any help was refused back than.
woohooo hei boys, please calm down, bp just submitted a bunch of youtube links for our prod, he doesn't want to spam pouet.net with new prods :)

bp:
No hard feelings man. Personally, it was surprising, and confusing (and still is) to see all of that to be corrected. I asked for some corrections already, but still there is plenty do to.

Now it is too late to rollback the DB, the only solution is to (sorry Keops) to make a tool, which will help to split the releases (its numbers in fact) between groups. For exemple split the releases for different , but cosidered as the same, groups, i.e. "Prestige PC", "Prestige Amiga", "Prestige C64".

Surely you had good intentions, I do not doubt about that.

rez: dude, I am calm =). As I wrote above.
There is no use to come back to the past and to accuse each other about what should or should not be done. That's clear. Personal feelings are, in fact, not important here.
We gotta find a solution from this situation.

I have some Atari XL/XE, C64, Amiga knowledge so I can point some mistakes out. The pb is writing all that stuff in the form of BBCode. I am sorry, but I have to many things to do, even if I really like order and thing done in a proper way.

sim, thank you. I had indeed good intentions.
And I offer my help again to clear things up as I am of course responsible. But to hear the same stuff again and again with rejecting any help I gave is just frustrating.
bp:
It is frustrating, I understand very well (life, hum?...;). More, if it's you who offers it, because you feel kinda responsible and you wanna repaiir it.

What gotta be faced is that even if sb without any scene expierence had put a C64 production under its Amiga name (because of group's the same name) , we would not have avoid the mistake.
And I betcha, there are already such mistakes done without any bad intentions.

Anyway, to sort it out I propose the following thing:
1. I can/may start (slowly) to look for the C64 crews put in the DB by clicking (D'oh!) on them,
2. Can give you the prod's number according to me are not properly inserted (here I would prefer to have a better way to do it, rather than typing all the "stuff" in the file),
3. You may write a script (sorry Keops ;) generating BBCode with some corrections.
4. Keops (or other dude) will approve it in its text, or scripted form.

The difficulty (for me) is to sort the numbers out better than typing them.

sim, let me script (yes that bad word again :P) something that will go through my added groups first and generate a % of how accurate they are...then i make you a list of those who are ok, who need some checking, and those who are probably wrong.
Maybe we should move to my personal thread "bp link me beautiful" or whatever it was called.
bp: ok, let's move it there.

And apologies to the moderators for this discussion.

AEP is actually AER. The typo probably comes from the fact that cyrillic R (he is russian) looks like latin P.
