ASSEMBLY Summer 2010
category: parties [glöplog]
Two minutes of finish talking seemingly translates to: "Congratulations" ;-)
Why not keep it in english for everyone to know what's going on?

The HD 9MBPS or something stream is working great. I bet it will fail in a few minutes when the 4kb compo starts.
What's up with the messed up playing-order of entries?
Hasn't it been more or less an unspoken rule on all major parties to play the best entries last, to build up the tension and not end with an anticlimax.
4k for example was all over the place...

Good thing they're streaming the compos so we at home can also enjoy the intros and demos. No wait, I forgot, ARSEmblyTV sucks so I guess I'll watch old episodes of FULL HOUSE instead.
Stream runs fine here - both on PC and PS3 with bigscreen TV and large speakers.
@Sdw: They actually had an interesting debate on exactly that topic after the 4k intro compo. Decipher argued that it was unfair to some, but they actually had quite a few good arguments both for and against "shaking up the order" as they called it.
Earlier (after music compo, I think) they also talked about namevoting and how it affected the voting if the composers name was shown while playing. Okkie even made a joke about bluring out group-logos and credits during compo to prevent namevoting :-D

The stream has huge problems in Switzerland, at least. The HTTP streams don't respond at all (port 80 is dead), the PAL stream gives me some kind of error, the HD stream has too much packet loss to be useful, and the 2048 stream (RTSP) is very spotty. I don't use the Flash stuff, but others have the same experience. Trying to reroute it through a different network with VLC complains that the video stream is missing timestamps (the encoder doesn't appear to be doing a very good job wrt. standards compliance :-) ).
The 4k compo was fine (on 2048), but the compostudio was mostly audio-only (you'd get a few seconds of video now and then), and the 64k was “you get to watch 10% of it”. It's a shame, because the input signal appears to be really good, and when it _is_ working (and the H.264 encoder doesn't block the dark areas to death) it looks really gorgeous on my TV.

@Punqtured:
Ahh, too bad that I missed that discussion would have been interesting!
For me though, I have a hard time seeing how a "shaken up" playorder can benefit anyone.
With a "best for last"-playorder, at least the somewhat not-so-good entries have the luxury of being the best that was shown so far.
As it is now, how fun could it have been to follow the superb Pittsburg Stallers intro with a rather mundane one?

unstable here in norway. Lags, and cuts out completly at times.
Funny thing, the superbooring security football match shit thing (what is that? commersial for a game?) runs fine. But when compos or compo studio. Its fuckt.
4K was OK. 64K worked ok'ish untill the AteBit intro.
Sure hope its decent during the democompo.

tft: Something tells me it might be related to the number of viewers, then =)
FWIW, compo studio for 4k (when it worked) was a few hundred milliseconds out of sync. I don't regard that as critical, though.

Why is navis with his pants off already? the compo hasn't started yet! ;D
breaking news: smash has lost weight!
The stream is back to sort-of working. Now only some audio dropouts.
Demo compo time!

And CNCD vs. Fairlight, indeed! I wanna watch both again. :-)
Wow, amazing year on the PC-side this year, good 4kbs, good 64kbs and good demos!
Congratulations to organizers and participants.
