Meditation, do you do it?

category: general [glöplog]
Are you into meditation?
I am not,.. yet. But I want to. A bit. I want to learn about it.

I like half of the logic and it's true. I am running, running, worrying about things, trying to catch up with life, whatever that is and there is no time to relax, to let my mind loose, recharge my batteries or anything. There is another half of it that I am not into it, the more religious or metaphysical one. I am not sure what to say about it..

How about the binaural beats? Like Holosync or others. Are they based on something or are they bullshit? I had a little experience when I first tried Holosync (the dive) and my thoughts started flowing but I let them go and then I was relaxed and I could also find easy solutions to some problems that bothered me just right before. I didn't thought it was the holosync, but just the atmosphere and because I let myself relax for an hour, instead of pressing into the problems more..

However the next days I tried it again, because I was expecting something (unlike the first time I did it just out of curiosity), I wasn't getting it. And someone maybe has to not try or expect anything with meditation but just let go.

This is not a joke thread. I would like to hear what do you suggest concerning meditation, if you are into it, had some experiences and if those "press a button, holosync things" have something good to give or they are pseudoscience. (Actually, playing another bonus track having to do with focused learning, works quite well, whenever I have to study and I am extremely lazy that I procrastnate for weeks, and then this, and I just sit there and am focused, wow).

What about Mantras? Those sound too religiousish. Should I? Or can I make my own mantra?

Optimus... you have to realize that there is no solution in this world. All a human being can do is live his life, TRY to achieve this or that - but in the end everyone dies...

If you want to know more about meditation - here's a very good e-book about it:

Not in a ritualistic sense, but I often take time to close my eyes and force myself to focus on slow breathing until I calm down. It's a huge help with stress.

Binaural beats somehow work but listening to repetitive music while relaxing during one hour or so work equally well.

Optimus:

There is no such thing as "a little bit pregnant".
Do it or don't ... not "a bit"
Meditation helps a lot to unwind, focus, re-calibrate and so on and doesn't require any Mantra chanting ... only patience.

Yes, Mantras are religious chants which may carry a different vibration than you actually want to attract.
Look for translations, read them and think again.

... opening such a thread in the oldskool BBS will be instantly converted into a joke/bashing thread ... you should know that by now ;)

now go in peace, meditate or make a freakin' demo about it.
