We need more boobs. Definitely more boobies. Boobies are cool and they attract people to leave more positive comments. And I don't mean silicon filled ones but natural saggy boobs hanging at waist level. They are the ones to prevent scene from dying. Boobs.

this thread and to a certain extent the whole pouet thing are yet another obvious case of eros/thanatos syndrom : love (lust for life) and hatred (lust for death) are intrinsically close and linked feelings because they are passionate ; ignoring is way sadder.
if sceners or demofans talk - seriously or not - about the death of the scene that's obviously because they love it in their own way.
and before smash or havoc come and tell me to make a demo about it, i do agree with them : there is no true love except proof of love :-)

i had this oppinion for the first time in the mid nineties while mailswapping died and internet came up. i was scared that friendship died that way.
thanks to many friends that proved me wrong.
the scene cant die, because it invents itself every few years but with a static core.
the scene as i know it consists of so many multiscenes, social interactions, friendship circles, changing and different interessts, skills, user groups, supporters,demogroups aswell as warezgroups, nerds, bitches, trolls and so many many more that all is linked together to what we all know as "The scene".
Back in the days you where a "chosen one" when you where part of it.
And i still believe that we are "chosen", because even though all major differences we share the one thing - we´re sceners.
call it destiny...you never had a real choice.

"Constructive criticism" is as low as 1% of all the bitchy comments around. It's ok not to like the style of a production or be bored of it and it's even ok to say it. Still the comments shouldn't kill the motivation of people to go on and continue contributing in the demoscene.
BTW: Ronny. Will you be at BP this year again. We should go for a breakfast in Downtown Bingen again like some years ago...it was relaxing'n delicious. And the toilets were more clean! :D

I dont think the scene is more arrogant than before. Ofcourse there will allways be douchebags slagging everything. And they tend to get worse as the years go by.
But since I re-entered the scene in 2005 I've experienced much more friendship and fun than f.i the mid 90ies.
Back then, there really was arrogance. But I guess thats because most sceners were kids with an inferiority complex.

Not that I've been paying much attention over the past three years, but I disagree about the "these days" comment. In fact, I disagree with the above situation being only applicable to the scene.
Novels, movies, music, video games, inventions, etc., are in the same boat -- it's only a very small number of great pieces that capture peoples' imaginations. The scene is also afflicted in this manner. I used to have a hundred or more "demo" disks for my Amiga 500, but truth be told, only very few are worth remembering.
This has been happening for hundreds of years and will continue until the human race becomes extinct.
