New idea for the breathtaking demo
category: general [glöplog]
I think it's ok for being an amateur movie, but still think 'What's in the Box?' is better in several aspects. The design of the robots here might look and move abit lame, but i think it's part of the intention of doing 50's style design. Still, they could have been better done, especially texturing and lighting.
I think the best part is the motion-tracking, but there's been a revolution the last few years in software in that area, allowing easier and better matching of movement and lenses with just a template from a cheap handheld camera.
About it being an idea for a breathtaking demo. I'm not so sure about that. We sceners aren't very fond of gamer or 3dsviewer- demos, so i guess cubes will still reign supreme ;).

Go make a demo about it.

Not bad as a small prod but still not quite "convincing".
i liked it!
we did it in 64k anyway
Basically I'm not speaking about the breathtaking demo but about the initial video. Anyway, the word "breathtaking" for a demo brings me a recollection of a demo with lots of effects and lighting combined with 3D gfx.

Don't fancy another 3D flyby.

i like amateur short movies, especially the spykladd series :-)
Nice movie I guess, but let's make demos!
Nice indeed.
Demos should have scenes with a combination of 2d and 3d where both the 2d and 3d fits together and give an illusion that everything you see is 4d.

I thought (and hoped?) this thread was about Breathtaker. I'm not sure what I expected it to contain though :D
Better idea for "breathtaking" demo prod
Use 'em shaders to make a demo look like a recording from a well worn analog 1 inch Type B tapes from the late 70's. Do a montage of vistas/tableaus and railroad tracks splitting and merging....

I liked the 'robot destroying a city'-short better when it was still called Geweldenaren van Ver. At least Jeroen Tel made the music for that one :)
