Piratenpartei propaganda : very demo'ish
category: general [glöplog]
Fun fact: None of the several pirate parties wants to abolish copyright.
But go on. Youre funny.
But go on. Youre funny.
If the only issue is the privacy then why are they called "the pirate party" ?
Obvious trolling effort but I'll bite: Because they're also pro copyright REFORM. Which is a very different thing than abolishing it altogether.
O. Bierbaard: for example laws that disconnect people from the net : IPRED in Sweden, HADOPI in France, soon one in United Kingdom...
because the net is the new e-democracy, the access to it has become a new fundamental right, the corollary of speech freedom ; it's above the profits of corporations.

It is no trolling attempt. What makes you think so? It is a sincere question.
And yes, I hate those laws too.
But really, starting a party and calling it "the pirate party" will not get you far I suppose. It sounds very childish.

Yeah, the name is definitely silly. But it's kinda like 80's feminism or sth - sometimes you need a very radical position to move things at all. Even if it's completely laughable. :)
Oh, and the trolling attempt? Well, internet cultore seems to have corrupted me to a point that I don't accept questions anymore that you can answer within 5 secs by looking at Wikipedia, sorry :P

I have read the article but could not find any mention about why they refer to themselves as a party for pirates :)

how german :D
O. Bierbaard: kb said it all, they call themselves Pirates because their enemies call them so : pirates who steal your goods and violate your mp3 OMG!!!
that's a very common political strategy in History : it's part of the process called Empowerment.
see the black activists who called themselves "niggers", or the french feminists who called themselves "salopes" (bitches).
besides it totally fits the typical internet humour :p

Btw, there seem to be a lot of rather radical one issue parties in the dutch politics and it most definitely isn't for the best. (see geert wilders party for example.)
But of course I hope that the pirate party will at least raise awareness about the increasing violation of privacy!

was that kiddiepr0n downloading dude who was in the bundestag for the pirateparty re-elected?
Btw, doesn't internet now belong to China?
Did someone mention fighting windmills?
The internet is dead anyway. If you want piracy don't do it over the internet. Just get some big antennas and make your own WAN for file sharing.
would certain people still have a ball if it was actually a demo, or, huh, a 64k intro? *fap*fap*
kb, and as we all learned just recently, it takes less than 5 seconds to get rid of an article from wikipedia. :)

People distributing my 64k intros all over the internet? Oh it's an OUTRAGE. :)

as kb said it's all about the market : if you please the customers and the fans by your special services, they will give you back.
I don't think that was what he tried to say at all.
the program of the pirate party is the most humanist ever :
the main objective is a free and open society based on the universal access to culture and communication, on the fundamentally human act of sharing : the net is to be turnt into a universal library, who would oppose such a noble ideal, except the old monopolistic, elitist corporations and institutions ?

What's the catch in all this?
aftu: "full ack"

that's a good question. I guess that our society is actually based on some few people securing their borders and getting rich and a lot of other people who suffer from that.
if you think about money as a limited resource, the conclusion is that in order to get richer, you need to take from others.
that's one of the fundamental problems of our world. it's not about so much about "sharing" and "communicating", it's more about "hiding" and "evading".
ok I'm a bit drunk. rant time ;)
