Sundown, what's the crack with food and stuff?

category: general [glöplog]

As a first time attendee to Sundown, but with experience of various kinds of other demo parties, I'd like to know a bit more about what is available in the local area food-wise?

There is next to no information on the website. There is a kitchen available which is good. I'm not assuming the organizers have any duty to cater for the stomachs of the party going masses in any way, but it would be nice to know of things like local supermarkets, takeaways, indeed if anyone is organizing a pizza run from the party place of an evening, or not.

As I said before, if nothing is being done from the party place itself, no issue, it's just nice to get the preparations right before I get there :-)

There is a supermarket about a mile-and-a-half down the road. There is a chippy about 2 mins walk away. There are a few pubs. There is a Spar that closes about 8pm if memory serves.

Pizza is always a possibility, but boring. Be a man. Have chips.

I'd kill for F'n'C served in a newspaper...

There's also a Chinese near the Spar
There's a curry house somewhere down that road too.

I don't actually recall Budleigh having a takeaway pizza place, but the kitchen is usually abuzz with frozen-pizza-age on Saturday lunchtime.

We're planning on a barbeque over the amplifier after the music compo. Also, the town is full of old people who won't be missed. o_O

Ignore those mothers who say they're having a barbeque! However, we do have meat heating facilities. We wont be cooking Meteorik's horse though, he will be in the kitchen but once you've fed him a sugar cube he's good as gold.

Pretty much what everyone else said. The kitchen has all sorts of appliances, and if you really need some pots and pans you can buy them in the town nearby. The Microwave is something like 2KW so be really careful!

There will be plenty of opportunity to eat jelly and icecream on the specially hired bouncy castle, which rc55 promises us will DEFINITELY be at sundown.

Great, that's exactly the kind of information I was looking for, apart from the senior age barbecue soylent burger possibilities, of course ;-)

A little bit of judicious shopping before I set off might be in order to save time later on for breakfast stuff.
