Stop using that fuckin warez fuck!

Excerpt from the PC Demoscene FAQ:
"In the late 1980s the legal part of the cracking and warez scene slowly drifted away from the illegal part. (...) The demoscene was born... sort of."
This is bullshit! Have You ever seen a production on PC that was created without using cracked programs? That's what's killing the scene. We can not say "we've got nothing to do with that bad bad warez scene, no no...".
No warez - no releases. It's true.

lol silly but so true :D
Seems like you can't / don't want to distinguish the "warez scene" and the "people using warez".
Don't confuse commuters with drivers.

hmm.. well... one can write his/her own texture generator instead of using photoshop or write his/her own mesh generator instead of using 3ds max.
but on the other hand, my tools suck :P

gargaj: how would you use warez if warez wouldn't exist?
blala: it's in the human nature to use Warez even if you don't have to. Even unintentionally. And it's also in a human nature to create Warez. So Warez would always exist.
I'm making a 100% warez-free toolchain. And if it wouldn't contain the "borrowed" GPLed code, it would be legally perfect. So pssst, don't tell noone!

blala: that's not the point. point is that demoscene is not warezscene and vice versa.
gargaj: i think you failed to see the point in benjam's remark. :)
ps: anyone ever tried to say that demoscene never used warez? no. we just said that the demoscene is not the warezscene anymore.
yeah.. anti-warez-front..!
when talking about the late 80s, nobody would seriously think of mentioning the pc scene.
sweet jesus! haven't we discussed this enough already!?!
the patriotsisters say to you all:
the patriotsisters say to you all:
I have seen demos made without cracked tools. Hell, I've even made them myself.
"not the warezscene anymore" yeah that's true. still, (almost) every scener is using warez :)
and i guess there are even crackers who sometimes do an intro. and democoders who sometimes crack a software. hmm?
anyway who cares about the distinction? of course i would like to separate myself from those pron-popups and lame send-us-expensive-sms-and-dl-warez-sites, but that's all - no problem with crackers and with cracked softs themselves.
eye: don't really understand you. i meant that if bus drivers wasn't exists, you must go by foot :)

benjam : you have not understand the sentence! it said 'crack scene' created visual realtime softwares to sign their acts in cracking commercial protected softwares. And some years after that, creating realtime visuals becomes a standalone competition. nothing to do with the use or not of full version of softwares. he want to say cracktros becomes intros, and realtime demos did not need a crack to be spreaded.
FYI 'warez' word was created after 1989.
Zone : 10 years of internet, 15 years of demoscene, 23 years of computers's use. perhaps i may write an history book one day... :)

Okkie, great picture! True US patriots on euro-crap shoes! :)
adidas for live havoc! (remember, pronounce it as 'a dai das' :D
Well, I guess I should say something here in order to defend (my) faq. But honestly, I don't feel like it. Just some short remarks:
dalezy: The paragraph in question does not mention the pc scene specifically.
benjam: As already pointed out by others, using and 'creating'/distributing warez are two totally different matters. Although it's an open secret that many kids and students have software on their hds that they haven't paid for, it would be stupid to mention that most demoscene prods are made using warezed vc++/ps for legal reasons alone (besides: yes, there are plenty of demos made without warez, including my own ones). Still, I could include a subtile remark about this issue in the 'legal status' question. ;) Also, it's true that there is some minor 'cross-activity' between demoscene and/or warez scene members. I will mention it in the next update.

Who cares? *bleep* the *bleeping* corporate lackeys!
Besides, the early demoscene was not ALL about the connection to the warez scene. MUCH of the demoscene was NOT about writing intros... Remember classics like Benn+Ratt's Space Movie, Judges, etc? Those were not about intros, and many of them PREDATE intros. Alot of the early stuff was all about "give me a job making games."
The whole "demoscene came from warezscene" is a falacy that has been perpetuated by ignorance.

blala: if there is no driver, someone *becomes* the driver.
However, i still don't see why you differenciate between demoscene and the rest of the world? Like, everyone is using warez in private, not just demosceners. And not even in private. In smaller offices, it is not so rare to only buy one old licensed copy of M$ Office 2k and then install it on all computers. At least out here in the near-to-insolvence central europe...

nono, if there is no drive, someone *codes* the driver!
HAHAHA!! :DDDDD
