Perspex: a REM in the listing gives the name 'Karl'. I don't think we're going to get very far here :-/

Zoetway Music: Peter Zoeteweij. From the name, I'd assume he's from the Netherlands. The programs mention being distributed through "VIS Telesoftware Service" - does anyone recognise that as the name of a BBS, perhaps?

3SA: you mean ESA. I think Factor6 will be able to give you plenty of information about this one :-)

Johny-X: I think he's Czech, but I really ought to know for sure seeing as I've met him about 10 times now :-) (But he is on Pouet, so you could ask him...)

Madhouse: group from Slovakia, I guess. (the previously-mentioned TSS was a member)

Cassiopeia: from Slovakia I think. Main coder/gfxer/musician was a guy called Denis - swapped emails with him back in 2000, which I might even still have in a backup of a backup of a backup...

Your Sinclair: you must have heard of YS, right? It was the biggest Spectrum magazine in the UK (and the world, I think) :-) Toxic Elephant wasn't by Your Sinclair, but it was released on a Your Sinclair covertape with a great big YS logo in it, which is where the confusion comes from. The demo was by Total Eclipse, a British group consisting of Kronus = Steve Anderson from Gloucester, UK, and, er, some other guy. (oh, and in fact Steve Anderson did become a writer for Your Sinclair later on, but this is confusing enough already, so I'll shut up now)

Dack / Zero: Members of Coolguys Limited (CGL), from Birmingham, UK. Still on the internet...

Proudly: Uhm, you're looking at something saying "proudly presents", right? :-) Crimes Of Bill Gilbert was by "Double 27" - sorry, don't have any details about them, but as it's a fucktro they were probably deliberately keeping themselves anonymous...

So a new question...

Some people write that the group "Coolguys Ltd" from England, but the comrades of Jupiter77 say that they are from Norway. Somebody knows where is the truth?

BB Image

and a bit... need information about Gotef, did somebody knows who is he ?

Coolguys Ltd are absolutely, totally, 100% from England. "The Real Deal" demo has a quiz section which - if you play it enough - reveals a whole lot of info about them, including that they live in Bewdley, and that they hate Margaret Thatcher and the Queen. ;-) I got a nice email from Dack a few years ago detailing what they'd been up to since then, and they've been based in the UK all this time. (And I really need to get back in touch to see if he's still got his old tapes, including the FIRST SPECTRUM DEMO EVVAR.)

No idea where Jupiter77 got Norway from - all I can think is that Alfa Soft / The President from Norway was making similar pop-music-sample-based demos around the same time, and they got the two authors confused.

3SA is ESA, Excellent Spectrum Aces, my former group. If you need detailed info, put my name there (Alan Petřík) and the place where I lived was Doksy :)
Johny-X is Czech, his name is Jan Otvinovský and he lives in Teplice.

Madhouse - it was a Slovak group with members T.S.S., Shuriken and Softhouse. Softhouse's name is Peter Turányi and he's still active on Spectrum, but not on the demoscene anymore.

Cassiopeia - a group of Denis (coder, msx) and Boris (msx). Name of Denis is Denis Asad and he lives in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Awww crap, a pity I don't wear any sportish stuff (as befits for a good black-metal fan).
Good one, Keops. Cheerz.
So, I'm a little late..... a few years after people were talking about us. Lol.
But Yes, as confirmed We (Me & Zero) are from the UK. We were both based in Birmingham. Indeed, The Real Deal gave quite a bit of info about us in the 3rd part with the quiz (which incidentally.... the quiz idea came from Red Sector's Megademo on the Amiga). Anyone who had read through some of our scrolling messages in a bunch of our demos would have found most of the answers pretty easy. Although there were actually 100 questions stored in the demo and it used to pick 25 at random each time. If you failed to get the correct amount right then the demo would end. But if you got enough right then it gave access to our contact details in a final additional section to the demo.
After we kind of dropped out of the demo scene (my Spectrum 128 blew up!) We both concentrated more on our jobs and had got more into console gaming etc. And then built up an interest in producing dance music. Then I moved down south to Newquay for 5 years, then came back up to the Birmingham area again. I was always quite heavily into the music side of the demos, and the musical part of me continued. I'm currently producing a lot of trance and dance tracks and I also DJ too. As well as doing a fairly normal job during the daytimes. Zero has got married and he too had taken up an interest in music production although I think he has dropped off that a little now.
Some of you may be pleased to know that we still probably use just as much bad language as we used to in our scrolling messages in the demos!!!
I pretty much lost contact with all the people from the demo scene around the world. We used to be in touch with all the big groups etc. Although back then everything was by post and sending stuff to each other on cassette tapes! And we were all writing demos in our bedrooms at our parent's houses!
Anyway, if anyone wants to get in touch then feel free to email me on dj.dee99@gmail.com.
Or have a look at my (unfinished) website at http://www.dj-dee.co.uk or I am also on twitter @dj_dee and on youtube http://www.youtube.com/djdee99 and there are a bunch of my tracks on soundcloud http://soundcloud.com/dj_dee-1 or pop onto my DJ Dee facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/DJ_Dee/133433800020593
Would be nice to hear from some of the old demo people :)
