What's the story behind the Plastic PS3 demo?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
Seems to me only oldskool musicians and graphic artists returned
where are the coders from the old days , they should return to ! :-)

Smash I don't dispute that, I wasn't talking about developers currently working in game swea..err companies.
I had in mind those who currently are attracted to go towards development but have not yet made the plunge. Those looking to get hired and desiring to grow a portfolio .. If their ultimate goal is to make games, I'm not sure their contributions will last after the initial effort. (It's just my impression that the french scene was full of such coders looking to get into the industry and with no other interest than to show off their ability to make a 3d engine)

Then again I could be wrong, and I'm certainly not trying to discourage anybody's effort.

You probably have nothing to do with that but don't you think it ruins the whole demo experience? :|

But Linger In Shadows can't just be watched in full from the get go, it has to be unlocked. At certain moments in the demo, clues will be given to the player, indicating that some unspecified action needs to be performed. Miss it and the demo will rewind. The display then switches to a letterboxed mode and you'll be shown controller prompts that give you an indication about how to move on to the next scene.

Not that I did try it to really see how it is...
Well. There have been hidden-parts in demos since the dawn of the scene, I guess you could just call these ones 'well publicised'.

I don't know.. why not just make a blueray dvd and just play the video instead? That 3D graphics will be playing and moving the same crap over and over right? I really don't see anything cool about it. looks like nothing more than a screensaver to me. Valued at $4.99 at most.
Priceless. :)
Yeah some of the comments are so retarded you just have to laugh :)
His description of the demoscene as PC based only is a bit off the mark, but maybe we can forgive him, atleast he tried (-:

heh the guy in the video says "Breakpoint this year is between 15 and 25 thousand people"
I paid some €170 to see it... :D
Instead of laughing at them, this would be a fantastic opportunity to do some outreach. Sure, some of them are beyond help, but some show genuine interest.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that this sounds a lot like our beloved troll Shanethewolf:

i guess some people might enjoy this, and it does sound kinda cool. but for me, id rather spend my time shooting people in the face on haze, or GTA4. but the artsy boring people will enjoy it. Oh and the people that just bought the ps3 for the blu ray and internet!

It 's more confusing than art.
Thats maybe the best description of the demoscene I have ever read.
Also generically useful, as in: Pouet, it's more confusing than a web site or Breakpoint, its more confusing than a party.
preacher: well you gotta admit he speaks for many.
auld2, indeed .. confusion seems like the main theme in demos since the mid 90s!
Hmm it seems that if we could delay it a little bit more, then the confusion will break it limits. Now it's the best moment to port Debris to PS3 and knock them down :P.

in order to unlock the next bit of "film," you need to wander around its 3D landscape and locate specific triggers, called "greets."

For instance, the bit we saw began with a close-up of a nest of stone-looking tentacles surrounding a glop of glowing goop.
