I'm just hoping "Heaven8" is released this year...
what a useless discussion...

my mother always said: if you don't have anything nice to say, shut the hell up.

;)

Speaking of 'best demos' -- what do you guys think about the prospect of scene.org doing a demo DVD of their Scene Awards. As of this posting, the poll is sorta mixed::

Would you buy! a Scene.org Awards 2002 DVD?

  • 41.9% (416) answered 'for sure!'
  • 35.6% (354) answered 'perhaps'
  • 22.5% (223) answered 'Nah, not interested'

-- i'd buy one! Getting all these on DVD is the only sure way to preserve these for prosperity. i.e. i probably won't have a computer that still runs Windows XP in 2012, but I bet i'll still have a DVD player.

Plus that mindcandy DVD seriously kicks ass - works well as in introduction to give to uninformed friends so they can see what the hell i'm talking about.

glitch: i'd not be so sure you'd have a DVD player by 2012... see, I already find it hard to find tape players, or, to put it more general, say, 5 1/4 diskettes... data storage formats also get obsolete, and you're speaking about 9 years...

I'm pretty sure that by 2012 we all will be wearing small memory cards in our clothings which will be wirelessly connected with our computers so we can upload information whenever we want and just go home and have it in our computer without having to manually download anything... or something ;D

Jcl: Of course there won't be any DVD-players in the year 2012, but videofiles can be converted into other formats. You can convert your old VHSs to MPEG2, too. But have you ever tried to convert a DOS-demo?
Of course not! So DVDs (or other videoformats) are the best way to preserve demos.

Patrick Swayze Ponders and The Popular demo. :)

Now would I buy a scene org dvd? No. I can just download the demos from here for free. If I really want a hard copy then I'll just burn em on CD.
