Good work. The only people who really get enjoyment from trolling are the trolls, so I'm sure this place will be more fun and creative now.

but who are the trolls and who are those with simply a skewed point-of-view not in agreement with the everyone else? i have heard ShaneTheFaggot called a "troll" many times but, although I don't agree with a lot of the crap he says, he instigates some interesting discussions on occasions.

Pouet does just reflect the development of the demoscene. It is not a timeless movement of the youth, it did grow up together with the people that formed it. Face reality. The same can be observed at demoparties. There are many people who are nowadays lacking the time and/or motivation to actually create demos but they still feel associated with the demoscene. You see those people being drunken at demoparties around the camp fire. And the same people appear at the pouet BBS.

Instead of banning all posters that ever posted something off topic or something that annoyed you (too easy), you should rather think about a better BBS system that can more easily cope with less interesting threads.

I would also point out that while every even semi-popular forum has its own trolls and idiots, the idiocy on Pouet has reached heights rarely seen even on the Net. Many of the people banned now would've been banned ages ago on other forums.. and because there has been no limits set before, we've gotten pedophiles, schizophrenics, social ineptitude on cosmic scale and so much inane banter and attention-whoring that it defies belief.
Also remember that whether we want it or not, Pouet is probably among first sites that any prospective new scener will visit. Having a gazillion topics filled with shit, trolling and people with Internet Personality Disorder (a disease in the head some people have that makes them act like three-year olds, post disgusting pictures, make multiple accounts and generally annoy the shit out of everybody except other people with IPD who take it as a challenge to do even worse) is not a good calling card to outsiders. And the worst trolls do not produce anything, they just ruin it for everyone else. Yes, BASS is fun to a certain extent, but only so far.

As for Pouet scaring off prospective sceners, I for one think Pouet is a fairly good reflection of demo parties, with their psychotic Polish people, Metalvotze, loud SID music, people working on stupid projects, people shamelessly promoting themselves and their projects, the ridiculously filthy toilets, junk food that actually really makes you sick, the occasional glimpse of what's under Nosfe's skirt, and all that. Of course there's more to the scene than that, but then there's also more to the Pouet BBS, if you actually try to take your palm off your face every once in a while to see what's happening amidst all the noise.

But even assuming he was an actual person, he was thoroughly driven away when the mob collectively decided he was out of line. That should tell you something about the nature of the disorder from which all these "trolls" suffer.
