i've recently started a troll cleaning campaign in pouet as some of you might have noticed.

reasons for ban include:
- reocurringly adding fake productions to database
- reocurringly starting useless bbs topics
- reoccuringly posting nonsensical idiocy on useful discussions
- reoccuringly insulting other users for speaking their mind
- reoccuringly starting flamewars with other users

if you guys think i banned someone unfairly please start a petition topic to let him back in so we can see how many supporters they have in their side in our community.

the victims of my campaign can also expose their case to me face to face at a demoparty and i'll act correspondingly to the surrounding sceners opinion.

hopefully this policy will make for a more useful website, if you disagree, you can use this thread to either call me a nazi or to request ban removals on your banned friends. i'll act according to the will of the majority.

I thought the whole idea of Pouet was that it had no particular use. It was just a place where looney minded sceners came to "let off" steam and talk insane banal crap.

clearer Pouet idealogy would be more useful than bans, surely

filipe thanks, that's a step in the right direction. now the next step would be to completely re-work the technical side - by giving motivated people from the staff more motivation and free way.

I'm all for some moderation of Pouet, but does this mean that there is going to be a court case style thing, trial etc? :)

hm, i can't really say the "trolls" are a problem to me. i dunno, i think I just use my brain to filter out what i want to read and what is not even worth noticing.
if anything, perhaps flooding should be controlled because that physically makes using Pouet uncomfortable. for instance, two whole pages of laptop image links is a pain in the ass to navigate. also the topic flooding is a bit much sometimes.

pointless comments and topics i can deal with because i can just ignore them. dont really need anyone to filter them for me

I don't suggest anything. Banning is good, especially if you can ban IPs and not just users. You won't solve anything, but it sends the right message and maybe helps in the long run. For keeping the prods database clean, that is.

Trying to moderate the BBS to prevent "useless topics", "nonsense" and "idiocy", is, well.. there's no nice way to put it, so nevermind. I'll let you know when I want to be banned. ;)
