I see what you mean. It struck me immediately opening the thread.
I don't know if the rest is just jesting by only picking up the amputation or loss of a limb part, but there is something about that picture more than and completely separate from that aspect.
There are probably some great proportions there. Also the very delicate nature of the figure and the plant help the effect.

I agree on the picture too, it has something. Not sure what it is, though.. something I can't quite pin down. The composition is certainly good, it's nicely balanced.. but it's not just that. Who is the artist?
