Seeing some sceners giving a PIG or a Thumpdown with the latest ASD demo made be become a little angry..

In general:
Thump up, pig, thump down..

It gives to less variation.. Something is either good average or bad
there is nothing in between..

Its time to change this! Its time sceners just can give a 1 to 10 figure:

1 Very bad
2 Bad
3 Very below average
4 Below average
5 Almost average
6 Average
7 Average
8 Good
9 Very good
10 Excellent !!


This way people can give a low rating from a positive point of view!

The current rating system imho is what makes pouet not very reliable website.

As a protest I will post this also in the fix me beautifull thread.

So admins, please fix this!

blahblah. whats your problem? why is it not my right to give lifeforce a piggy? thats exactly how i feel about this demo. i don't need no 10-points rating system for that.

This does not work much better. Check out CSDB.

The reason it does not work is that people usually only give out ratings in the 6-10 range. Scores below 6 are used by trolls with a grudge to manipulate voting.

A more sensible change could be to lower the influence of page hits, or "popularity" (however it is calculated).

magic: why does that make you angry? everybody has his own opinion about good/so-so/bad, and that's okay with me... look at the ratio of "thumb down" to "thumb up", then there's no need to complain at all...
i meself don't understand what anyone could like about 828 or disintegrates, but there seem to be a lot people that do, so...

hcdlt: becoz there are only 3 varions people can choose from its either good average or bad nothing in between

if peoples taste is not finding the demo good (thumb up) than imidiately its average (pig) or bad (thumb down)

oh and here is my vote to not change the rating system... it has worked, does work and will work well with sceners, who tend to think very black-/whiteish anyway

You don't need a new system, you need tolerance towards other people's opinions.

Zoom: pouet doesnt give many choices for people to air there oppinions uh? As written above: Thump up, pig, or thumb down.

How about just excluding people that votes in the wrong way?
It's less work than rewriting the vote-system.

magic: but if a demo is good in many aspects and fits one or more common tastes, as it is the case with this certain ASD one, it will get enough thumbs to be top of the month in one minute...
look at the comments, even people complaining about one thing or another give thumbs up, and people finding it "not bad" give it a piggie...
i like to think that voting system makes you think harder about your vote before clicking on "submit".

hcdlt: there is always an example in which your argument is right.. But see this on a wider perspective.. Pouet voting system should give sceners more variation imho.
