Alternative Party 2007 in Helsinki, Finland

category: general [glöplog]

A new venue. A new attitude. The seventh Alternative Party is coming.

During the years, there have been many rumours and projects about organising a party (lan or demo) at Cable Factory, a former Nokia cable manufacturing plant in Helsinki. This year, on 2-4 November, we will be up to the task.

There are many great demoscene parties in Finland every year. Still a demoscene event at its core, we are aiming for an audience even wider and not only maintaining the scene, but putting some new ideas forth, while having fun and seeing some non-mainstream computers and people!

An invitation for NES was released at Boozembly 2007 - another one for PC is hopefully released at Assembly. :-)

http://www.altparty.org/

There will be some ticket sales system at the website after Assembly (you can buy tickets there by cash, at the Scenebooth http://www.scenebooth.com/).

We already have (almost) all the competition rules on the website but more information (about a special guest etc) will be added later.

Share your comments! Would be great hear what we could do for the foreign sceners to come - there are actually nowadays many ways to get to Finland with a low budget (Ryanair for example).

P.S. Greetings to DDT/Accession; boozembly ruled.

We are doing it together but have new people, too. DigiKim is taking a lot of responsibility this time. :-)

Lost Soul: Do I see 'alchimy party' anywhere on demoparty.net ? No, no I don't. So when we were looking for dates and people asked me when Kindergarden was, I checked and THIS WEEKEND WAS FREE. So, no, IF YOU DON'T TELL ANYONE WHEN YOUR PARTY IS, PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY TRY TO NOT STEP ON OTHER PARTIES DATES WILL NOT FUCKING KNOW WHEN YOUR PARTY IS.

In fact, from everything I can tell from google, you simply made this party up.
A simple re-spelling might clear this one up..

Erm... are you one of the guys who will make some demoscene seminar at Assembly? This event will be held soon for the 7th year already...

By the way Alchimie orgs, it would be nice if you had an english version of your website soon enough ;)

"my" party? what makes you think it's "my" party? :-) funny enough. sorry for the mispelling though.

I didn't mention that the mainparty is also on 1,2,3,4 november this year: http://mainparty.net/

But such is life, it happens.

keops, like a person couldn't be able to talk about demoscene if he doesn't know every single small event arranged in france? if the party organisers suck at advertising so much that no one knows about their party, it's pretty much their own fault.

well, fuckings to alchemie & Altparty orgas for taking the date of Mainparty that has been announced longer than alchemie. ok with 2 partys at the same date but 2 in france? bouche that date sil vous plait.
Dubmood: they probably chose those dates because November 1st is a day off in France. Since it's a thursday, a lot of people people will take November 2nd (friday) as a day off as well.

yeah, and I love the arrogance of this lostsoul figure. "fuck altparty for taking our date" and then he realise that alchimi took our (mainpartys) date and then he goes "such is life".... serious. now im pissed
Main & Alchimie:
Hey, here's an idea. How about combining the demos, intros & Wilds from both parties and have 3 big compos at each party.
After voting, organizers call each other with their votes...and you got yar winner. (Or have seperate voting, interesting to see how people voted at each party for the same prods).

I'm afraid main-party will not have the benefit of the doubt it had last year.

Oh man, Flash On The Beach 07 is happening 4-7th Nov in Brighton, it's going to be a pretty hectic week for me then, and I'm missing the compos or prize ceremony at minimum (getting morning flight to uk at 7am could be a possibility though) :(
