NUMERICA demoparty is unleashed - get your seat for it!

category: general [glöplog]
a few thoughts after the numerica party.

it was by far the best party i've attented in the last 3 years.
everything ran almost perfectly, it had a nice atmosphere and a pretty international audience.
i liked a lot the comments from the vips on the productions as the same time they were shown.
i also liked a lot the effort you did to speak english all the time.
the compos were nice.
the party place was excellent.
the fazz gigs and willbe's gig were great.
i had a very pleasant time with friends here.

few minor points :
please give us the name of the person you hired for the food so we can sue him, 30 ppl who got sick from the bolognaise pasta is quite much.
we don't need to be entertained all the time we can entertain ourselves at a bar table without loud music or bigscreen show, i somehow felt like being in a continuous scene.org awards ceremony for the whole time.
please brief/introduce a bit the vips about/to the french sceners (atarists, olds&cool ppl and #traxfr grannies for example..)
and please as far as i know it's keops invitation to breakpoint, not scamp's invitation..

it was great really.

btw, it was indeed a cool event. the first french thing i've ever been too and it was above expectation. a really friendly crowd. also nice to have somekind or cross-over between artsy types and hardcore geeks. the organisation was really one of the most professional ones i've ever seen (combined with STNICCC2000), we were showered with gifts, etc :)

hope there will another edition of this cool party someday.

Florent basically stated all I would like to say. So I'll just say a big thank you to all people involved, it was a great time.

fuckings must go to:
- centre commercial e. leclerc for allowing people with >20 articles in the <10 articles fastservice queue
- centre commercial e. leclerc for selling only one brand of (quite poor) chocolate milk in a supermarket the size of an airbus hangar
- centre commercial e. leclerc for selling me a can of completely powderized pringles
- the city of montbeliard for the oneway streets all around the partyplace (luckily italian/german/dutch kamikaze drivers cannot read french traffic signs :))
- the guy(s) who farted in that tiny corner in the steakhouse where we had dinner
- viamichelin/map24/various other route planners for not understanding it's piss easy to drive to basel-mulhouse airport without entering switzerland, and thus confusing heaps of frustration and confusion before the trip
- the numerica organisers for not making the party last 1 or 2 days longer... now you will have to organise another edition, OR ELSE ;))

ok, here are my thoughts about this great party:

Positive:
- announcements & seminars in english
- demo commenting during compos (although I'd like to see some more aggressive and less political people there who aren't afraid to say that an entry is bad :-)
- atmosphere
- international audience
- many people who hadn't been to a demoparty before
- not so freaky quiet like the other french parties I've been to (those were scary ;-)
- free coffee & croissants, later also free fruit thanks to sucky food service :-)
- presentations & performances

Negative:
- cold (& dark) showers (ok, having showers is good though)
- aggresive dogs at the entrance (not the orgo's fault though, and could easily be circumvented by leaving/entering through the doors upstairs, and the little doggy walking around at the partyplace was cute btw :-)
- food service (for such a small party I think it's better to do it yourself, that will prevent problems like happened with these guys)
- commenting from a separate room (creates an unneccesary distance between the party and the commentors, it was done once while sitting on stage and that works much better IMHO)

Anyhow, this party ruled and I will definately come back next year if you organise it again! :-)

I share all of the above from florent/havoc/sparcus. Nice party, it definitely needs more attention (probably scheduling it less close to major events like BP?).

Ok so here are my little points to add:

Next time PLZ! no "air conditionning" or what it's called in the conference room, it was damn annoying and made me left the place two times because it was making me sick.
Next time: a xxx -i mean the boy himself- show :)
Next time PLZ! MORE AND MORE CUTIES! :)

I'll agree with florent for ont point, the fact that some people would have deserved to be introduced, we indeed got some super sexy vips that deserved such introduction.

And yeah, the fact you guys commenting on prods were at a different place was quite weird, it would have been fun that we could feel like acting in that a bit more.

I really hope next event will feature more foreigners.

and for christ's sake.. the first night the temperature inside was a tad too hawt. i later on assumed it was done on purpose cos metapat wants to see us all sitting there nekkid and then do nasty tricks with his microphone, but well, no :)
and oh, according to my dad who coincidentally checked the demoscene.tv stream around the pixelgfx compo, i managed to hack the camera for about 5 minutes with the 'rob is jarig'-macgyverism JSYK \o/
I share all of the above from florent/havoc/sparcus/dixan/kaneel/maali. the only thing i might add is: no french beer plz, bring some grolsch or kölsch or super bock. if it weren't for sparcus and skrebbel, that little detail would have ruined the party experience. kudos for sparcus and skrebbel!!!

What jeenio said about the beer.
What florent said about the sueing! LETS GET THEM IN JAIL AND STUFF!!
What maali said about the temperature.
What sparcus said about the dogs.. God, that fucking dog shitted at the entrance, it smelt like shit (quite normal, eh?).
But except that amount of stuff, good party, and, even if i helped in the organisation a bit, i was really surprised 'bout how good it was for a first edition.

jeenio: aah, so you drank my two sixpacks of hertog jan! ;)
was it yours? i thought it was sparcus's... and i always asked him if i could take one. blue albert heijn bag?
added on the 2007-03-12 16:56:36 by jeenio jeenio
maali: might be that I had one too, because you were so stupid to place your sixpacks of hertog jan at the exact same spot where I also placed mine ;-)
added on the 2007-03-12 16:57:15 by sparcus sparcus
jeenio: the ones in the bag were definately mine :-)

There was one empty Kölsh on the first desks near the stage and it was the one and only I got... but at least I got one..
The RICARD bottle was definitly mine :D
it seems partymeister needs some "register your beer" functionaly so we can keep track of who placed his beer where ;-)
added on the 2007-03-12 17:06:19 by sparcus sparcus
just put some RFID tags in the beer bottles/cans
added on the 2007-03-12 17:11:13 by nosfe nosfe
That would be a nice idea, i think i lost one somewhere :/
No one wanted to test my ricard (anise alcohol - 45° degrees) so it's been laying on a desk during a whole day :)
the good news is that DTV recorded everything, so if you are missing a beer, just send a mail to Metapat so he can check the video footage to find out who took it :-)
