YES, I am from Russia, a city called Perm, by Volga and Kama, by the Ural Mountains (kinda). I live in the USA for eight years now, so i dont have a problem with English!!!
I write bad because I'm always in a hurry to do somthing, but you might notice that I am not writing bad now, because its 3:41am in MN,USA.
So LeaserBerns: i ACIDENTLY write that, I was in a rush to... I'm always in a rush. Hope that cleared thing up :)

Hlusnagen : if i understand good your 'speeded' english, you want to make demos, and you have good skills in code
if you can play a music and write on the screen a picture, so you can make a demo
a demo is to demonstrate the thing you can do with a computer in an artistic way
no need to be an artcore coder to make good and design artistic demos (take a look to the prods of Melon Dezign and Movement for example)
recruit gfxman and musician, or join an existing group to use the human skills ressources if you cant do the gfxs or sfx yourself
view lots of demos, go to demo-partys, and use your imagination to create good prods
good luck :)
... screw that!... check out the image i made over night (totaly kickass!!!) [img]http://www24.brinkster.com/andreibaz/Images/finished.bmp[img]

if you want to be a good demomaker, you have to learn modesty too... :)

(and learn to write english without any mistakes if you want others understand you) :]
Hmm,.. strange. I think that he used the BB code well? Or not??? Let me try myself...

BB Image

Oh, yes I found it, he forgot a slash..

Anyways. It still seems me like a joke (14 years old in a game company?) but anyways...

I never said I was in a game company Optimus :).
I gues I will improve my writing style, for you pleasure.
elric, whats that about modesty? All I wanted from this thread was just a good idea for a demo, talking about modesty!! :(

I don't think this is a joke. People should be encouraged to think about the design, too, and not just code some demos because they know how to use DirectX and how to do metaballs etc.

Anyway, the best way to get inspiration or ideas is (IMO) not to just keep programming, but to watch all kinds of demos, not to plagiate, but to learn and invent new things. And some people just have eye for design, some don't. If you can code but have no idea how to make a cool prod, befriend with some people who have artistic skills. It's ok if you don't know english that well - as long as you don't release a demo with "englishish" texts.

believe it or not, there are still other ways of doing demos, other aesthetics, other effects that have not been made.. so either you are a genius and invent them from scratch, or you try to have a wide culture and see what is being done in parallel arts, and steal their ideas.

"Talent borrows. Genius steals." as they say.

the best way to do demo-design is not to watch demos and learn. in fact, the less you think about other demos, the better your design is. learn to keep distance from what you're doing, or you'll lose your creativity and drop to tedious self-repetition.
designers don't get ideas from looking at other designers' work, well, not all and not always.. but if everyone did, all designs would be the same.. designers watch around, see interesting stuff around them everywhere and add it to their mental archives of possibly cool imagery to work on later..

PLEASE do NOT make another boring Jizz or Stash garbage PC crap production. These were OK (and just ok) when they were new, but now it's all anyone ever DOES. PLEASE ignore those comments.

Also, as far as English goes, your English is far better than my Russian. I'm from the States. I guarantee you half the people here criticise the United States for not speaking other languages, yet they insist YOU should speak English. Typical double standard crap that everyone EVERYWHERE does (: Just look for the CONTENT that folks give you, and take the opinions as just that - opinions.

Also, I'd still insist you should look at some C64 demos, as they push the limits far more than any PC demo does. It seems PC demo fans tend to like 80 gig mpeg productions and don't like 64k brilliance such as FR-08 or Sonnet.

Really, tho, just take your idea and run with it. If you're happy with it, and someone else somewhere likes it, then you've made a successful demo.

ohhhhh yes !!!! a new C64 was born, no ? ;)

Well... lol. Who does everyone think I have bad English. OK, maby I'm a slopy 'keybord-hitter', but not a bad English knower :). I know both English and Rusian very well.
C46?, whats that... some kind of 64k intro?
Why did someone say that I shuld not look at those fr intros, they rock. I think the most I got out of this thread was "watch some artbooks, watch some demos/games/movies, and then think by yourself about what you wanna do in your demo.". I dont think my point got to everyone: all I want was an idea for a prod, not bullshit on my English skills.
