Book - Demomaker - The Amiga Years
category: general [glöplog]
Looks cool. A bit suprised (maybe I shouldn't) by the negative reception. There's a typo, everything is ruined forever!
People online get suspicious if one announces a project and is weirdly secretive about basic details such as authorship? Yes.. Surprising.

Maybe it would help if some of the people listed under "Contributors" who are also active members of this forum could speak out what they are actually contributing... ;)
Permishun asked here too.. interviews etc. provided (both myself & Facet)
Yes, it looks like there really needs to be a proof-read of the material...
Daddy Freddy: because Indiegogo and Kickstarter have been filled (spammed) with retro / oldschool projects for years (retro games, retrp books, retro this, retro that), often with little to no info about the authors or what they can bring to the table.
When people are asking money to fund their project, I expect them to take the time to present something interesting and explain why their project is worth founding. Showing a few screenshots of other people's work is definitely not enough.

Also, it would be really nice to know who exactly is behind the project.
Keops: Yeah, you're right.
As with Virgill and Dan he asked me a few questions about some old demos and seems very enthusiastic about the project. He corrected a thing for me on the Indigogo page very quickly btw.
I'm really interested how he managed to get decent images of the demos, because the pixel-dimensions are not nearly enough for printing them in a A4-book at 300dpi.

Oh, its only 165 x 230 mm. My fault.
uuuuuh... i assume despite his spelling disadvantages this guy does know how to use the 'nearest neighbour' setting to keep pixelation intact
So, we're in that part of the Wild-West movie where them goddamn vultures feedin' of a corpse again? Well, well, well... there'll surely be sum brawlin' and shootin', i'm sayin'.
You go for a man hard enough and fast enough, he don't have time to think about how many's with him; he thinks about himself, and how he might get clear of that wrath that's about to set down on him. *chew* *spit* *egale crying* (not an actual eagle, it's a falcons cry, but everybody thinks it's an eagle) linky

Why such an artificial representation be kept intact? Pixels weren't rectangular in the 90s.
