mastodon (decentralized open-source twitter alternative)

It's a decentralized service, so it's immune to moderation.
Which will *definitely* make it better!!!!

I'm sure there will be a lot of Bitcoin and Linux fans there though.
This.

In related news, the reactions by https://twitter.com/mastodonmusic are pretty awesome.
Haha, this is surely the best thing to come out of this :D

That's not quite it though. Since you can host your own instance you get to decide how you moderate, if at all. Some instances just outright ban certain domains. Some may handle it in a more democratic fashion, possibly just blocking specific users. The most popular approach seems to be to just let each user decide. There's no whole-domain block possibility yet, that each user could set for themselves. Plus some auto-blocking taboo word thing could be useful. Devs are still innovating
I heard there is no Mastodon client for the C64!
Next up: Single Player locally hosted Social Media. No more censorship. Tell yourself all the things you cannot say outside 127.0.0.1!

Sounds like an excellent excuse to write one. Nip those Amigans in the bud [:

Some party ages and ages had a useless utility fun compo. Someone made an irc client for it that was just like a real thing except you couldn't connect to anything. You could join channels and /msg yourself but that was it :D
https://magicalgirl.party/@bittin but haven't played with it anything yet
Preacher: It was from a TG useless utility compo. It's not true that you could only /msg yourself; you'd also sometimes get spam :-)
Humor :)
It could be interesting to create a demoscene / creative server for this thing. No? Not sure the pouet.me domain is appellative :D
xernobyl: what would that ever be good for? The one good thing about demoscene stuff on Twitter is that it reaches other people.
Development and alike. Most people don't care about libraries and rendering techniques...and that sort of stuff. I didn't mean it for sharing of the final productions.
xernobyl: and you belive that 140 (or 500, for that matter) characters in a more or less threadless chat stream is the best forum for discussion libraries and rendering techniquest?
..which, btw, is _exactly_ what demosceners do on Twitter, only with people outside of the scene, causing a nice cross-pollination in the process?
Sigh.

Yes, they do that, with everything else in the middle.
..already, on Twitter.
I shall have to namesquat https://pouet.me/@eltopo. Might be able to sell it for $5000 in the future.

I might have some trouble with this business endeavor, pouet.me seems dead in the water.
Hello,
It seems Twitter is having some err... adventures right now?
So I'm available at https://mastodon.tetaneutral.net/@pulkomandy

Why mastodonize when you can pouetize?

- Outreach,
- I have a lot of non-demoscene content there that wouldn't fit here.
