Wanted! - A human resource hub for demomaking.
category: general [glöplog]
Your Demoscene Infrastructure Saviours (dfox and I) are proud to announce http://wanted.scene.org, a new site for finding partners in demomaking!
In the last few weeks there's been considerable amount of people (mostly on IRC, a lot of them newbies) hesitating in starting demoprojects because they didn't have music for their demo, so we got spurred in the action and threw this site together. It offers facilities both for people looking for help and people offering help, so if you feel like you need to find more people, hesitate not!
Remember, 2 months until NVScene, 3 months until Revision / TG - assemble your crew now!

What a great idea, and good of you to actually make it a real thing and make it happen, kudos. I will certainly see if i can help out if i can, hopefully many new friends, contacts, and demos will come out of this :)
Nice!
There's gonna be a Pouet box version of the feed soon (as well as for Pounds-Off)
Hooray \o/
Great stuff!
Cool idea!
Excellent initiative!
what the others said.
and more.
and more.
Great idea, thanks a lot!
But... demos not getting started for lack of music? Seriously? To me it always seemed the ratio of musicians vs coders is like 10:1...

utz: But that's the point - they don't connect. Sometimes they don't know each other, sometimes they don't know who's available when, and that's why I always got so frustrated about this. Every month there'd be someone on IRC saying "yea i kinda thought about making a demo but I can't make music and I don't know anyone who does".
Utz, it's not about musicians vs coders ratio, it's about having a music which would drive you to make a prod. It's actually pretty impossible to edit/design a good motion design piece without such music.
And, as to the topic - very nice idea! Thanks!
Excellent idea and thanks for putting in the time and effort to do this.

I wouldn't say *impossible*, but having music definitely makes the process a lot easier :3
Also, kudos to dfox + gargaj, site looks fucking awesome! (:
Great idea, and thanks a ton for implementing it, too! I was already thinking about how to find a musician when I'm switching to making demos on the PC this year, and that site sounds better than spamming Pouet. :-)
You know Gargaj, you've been nothing but an asshole to me on here, (along with everyone else), but after this kind of thing, I almost forgive you :) Good job, man!
This kind of thing may be just the kick in the pants even *I* need to get off my ass and finally start doing what I love.

Awesome idea!
Personally, I would really like to contribute to this. I find it somehow easier and more inspiring to contribute to different projects rather than one big project.
See you there!

oh, love the logo colors :)
Great idea.
would make more sense to integrate it into pouet on a long term
that's pretty neat! :D
Let see how it works.
How it works? Like a job market. Few and specific (VICE maintainer, WTF?) meets plenty and easy. :D
But not to be a cynic: I hope some nice prods come out of this.
