ACE! For those who don't know the VCS: I basically takes 128 bytes already to display a stable black screen :-). And real masters comment like this:
Code:sta COLUBK ;could use SAX instead, but I have two bytes to spare

Inevitable, wasn't it? :-)

Would have done that myself if by tomorrow nobody came forward...

Interesting that Stella fails to emulate something basic like mirrored PF correctly...? Good to know, and I wonder if different VCS behave differently here.

Oh, and there's an exclamation mark missing, but we'll kindly overlook that. :-)

fzort: Testing it is how I discovered Stella has a bug :)

Kylearan: Yeah, I think Stella is emulating the PF2 latching incorrectly. I think writes to PFx apply only to the next time they are drawn, but I haven't verified that yet

Hm. Why would you clear the stack at the start of the program?

WizardOfOz: Because both the TIA and RIOT RAM reside in the zero page (mirrored to page one). Without clearing the stack, graphics, sound and RAM would start in an unknown state. Remember that this machine only has half a page of RAM :)

Nice minimalistic approach.

But I think you can squeeze out a little bit more out of 128 bytes.

I'm not even sure how this is possible... I don't think I'm very clever!
