I guess the moving sequences are time-limited because they are actually precomputed during the still parts. Some details (deformations of top and bottom lines and a "flattened corner" at one point in time) hint that the program precomputes a series of "frames" compressed as "distance hint", one byte per column, 160 bytes per frame. Once memory is full, frames are rendered with a "lazy" algorithm (that only paints height differences). This looks like I want to do, yet a little differently. Amirite?
@cpcitor: you are right! Old 4k with some imperfections, but it was a pleasure to code it...
