No Wild but a Nokia N-Gage Demo.
As far as I know it's supposed to run also on different Series 60 devices.
Has some really nice 3D effects for it's platform and I even like the design. So - rules.
rulez added on the 2003-12-31 18:40:27 by mizc mizc
oh, and the compo it won was the "console/handheld" category.

mizc: the matt current people would have wanted to upload the real binaries to internet before anyone adding this to pouet.

Anyway, really nice demo. Actually the best S60 demo I've seen so far and Annie's systems really rock: as far as I know this was made in just few days.

Nice going! Is this made with the N-Gage only libraries or is it possible to run it on other series60 or other newer Symbian mobiles?
It's so damn weird when even mobilephones makes demos that look this good. :-)
rulez added on the 2004-01-01 03:28:49 by ekoli ekoli
ekoli: it's a regular series 60 demo and should work on any s60 model from nokia. this is an "n-gage demo" because it runs a few fps faster on an n-gage, the compo was a console/handheld compo and it was recorded on one.

cool stuff

It really rules as a series60 demo, but it's kinda boring at the same time. Lotsa vectors, but no really CPU beating 2D effects wich kinda disappointed me. Great music and ok-ish design make up for a great s60 demo.

yeah we kinda suck.
but for this we were mostly just testing some things with the code we had. maybe next time we'll even try having some style or ideas.

that'd be nice!

download final version

ok... we finally managed to finish the final version. (and release a binary) so now everybody with a nokia series60 mobile phone will be able to watch this.

we tweaked quite a bit of the visuals and improved speed in a few scenes. downloading the original video release IS NOT RECOMMENDED as this version is a lot better. we will try to capture a decent quality video of the final as soon as we can.

app. closed poland !

so it works fine in all of them does it deck? :/ just not on mine it seems...
tried both from mmc and phone mem.. same error..

is it just facking up on my 6600, anyone else tried it on 6600 aswell?
added on the 2004-01-10 06:13:12 by psenough psenough
Heh figures.

I got a word there might be "some" changes in the most recent batch of 6600s out there so it seems we have to go flash our 6600s to the newest software version and figure it out.

The joy of being at the bleeding edge :P "It worked on *everything* _we_ tested it on!"
added on the 2004-01-10 14:58:22 by deck deck
Ps, you could check that you're not running out of mem.. The demo should indicate that tho. A reboot could a be good thing too ;)
added on the 2004-01-10 15:34:01 by deck deck
i rebooted it alright.. 9500k should be enough for anybody... argh! "ngage's suck, ngages are the worst, ngages are such a disapointment. dont get an ngage" they say. and now everything always works for 7650 and ngage and never for the 6600 *sigh*
added on the 2004-01-10 21:26:46 by psenough psenough
ps, what's your software version so we can check out the problem? You can get it by typing *#0000# on your phone.

rulez added on the 2004-01-12 08:59:15 by kimi kardashian kimi kardashian
ps, you really are running out of memory. and no, you're not having 9500kb of free memory... you're probably meaning free space on drive c.

i just added some error checks. in next demo you'll see nice "out of memory" message if this happens... :)
added on the 2004-01-12 20:05:00 by annieeee annieeee
or wtf... maybe i had false information and i should shut up. 6600 really had lots of more memory i thought.
added on the 2004-01-12 20:30:52 by annieeee annieeee

<ram> according to FExplorer:
free: 1.363MB
total: 1.371MB
so it aint ram, and it aint rom either. i reckon its the sound init actually..
added on the 2004-01-12 23:38:02 by psenough psenough
hmm... i thought those phones should have more ram
added on the 2004-01-13 11:24:49 by raymon raymon
that ram i mention on my last post was a ram disk (used for cache or something, dunno exactly what) so not its real ram. 6600 has 10megs ram afaict. :)
