Next gen PC demo! Probably the winner without competition from Smash, Navis, Jugi and Destop!

Kinda divided here because so much is evidently just straight out of Notch.

113 MB for a demo is a lot of space. But hey, it looks, feels and sounds really great (modern and smooth)! Really loved and enjoyed watching this prod. Btw, thanks for creating a one file demo - instead using tons of files.

I love that this is over 100 MB and I hate that it's just one single file. Seeing more than one file when I unzip an archive really destroys the demo-watching experience for me.

Very well produced, good pace, music and design. Congratulations!

Quite a treat to watch.

This might be Adapt's cleanest, best-looking demo to date. But it really comes off like a Notch demo-reel. Even though I missed the loading screen on the stream, I could tell that either Notch was used, or they tried really hard to match the CNCD/FLT hair/liquid/smoke effects. It has just enough uniqueness and is still a pleasure to watch, aside from the obligatory slowdowns unless you have a $1500 GPU, and to hear, so I'll thumb it up.

Scene at 2:03 look a bit inconsistent for me, but the rest is nice in colour and style.

Now this is what i always hoped a demo in 2022 would look like. The effects are stunning and far above most home-made rendering competition out there. I guess learning Notch is the only way to make a proper demo going forward.

The music was nice, but the visuals had enough balls to kick everything up a ..notch, or three. I was hoping for a bit more bang and sync.

very on point adapt demo! cleaner version of their usual style without losing their identity.

smoke and fluid definitely had "made with notch" written all over them but used in ways that made sense for the demo.

Why my camera light is turning on when I launch the demo?

Nothing comes for free.
Oh and the demo looks great, although I think the last couple of parts (before the smoke) are quite messy and don't engage me at all.

But obviously a thumb up. (Bonus points for killing the scene with professional tools. Those hobbyist slackers need to get their act together.)

i was going to thumb it up for the technical effort because it seriously lacks proper design. but seeing that there's no real technical effort by using out of the box tools i can just thumb it down.

always great to see people use their own tools to make demos, such as here!

oh and it's also great for a lot of other reasons, like the excellent music and delightful, consistent design

Nice soundtrack and some very cool visuals. Not a huge fan of certain things in the direction/sync department, but easily thumb up material.

What is a real-time demo? Something that runs realtime, looks & sounds good and provides original interesting content. This is where we deliver here. About two months of my free time was dedicated for Notching what you see in our demo here. Plus all other artistic efforts spent for the audio, motion captures, textures and so on.

Personally I have developed all of our previous demo tools completely myself (except base of the GNU Rocket, which we extended for over ten years) - until Assembly of this year. Doing all yourself is certainly one way to do proper demos, but there is a lot more than writing the tools or all primitive technical building blocks for making up a good looking demo.

On good looking, original and interesting real time executable demos, I don't care if they are fully self developed or created with a tooling like Notch, Unity, Unreal, Cables.tv, Blender or with your favourite Coffee Machine. This is more than ok as long as the used tools are clearly informed for the viewers.

And yes, I am happily & proudly working at developing Notch now :).

P.s. there are no separate or dedicated "hair simulation" or "hair rendering" nodes in Notch yet, so I challenge you to download the free version of Notch and try to make one yourself!

It's how "Adapt x Notch" looks like. Also it drops to like 5fps in certain parts.

Nice music and the visuals are not bad either.
Big file size though (but at least not as large as some Unity demos).

Nice demo, congrats for the win
rulez added on the 2022-08-09 07:05:10 by The_Hooligan The_Hooligan
damn this looks nice and clean. but the music is not my cup of tea and feels like not fitting to the visuals. oinkie.
The tools don't make the prod, people do. One can make shit prods with the greatest tool and can make small miracles out of the worst tools.
All I see is great progress with each prod being better and better! This one is definitely not bad! I just cant wait to see all the upcoming ones!

Wow, this was a pleasant surprise. Way above and much cleaner than other Adapt releases, that tend to be a bit messy. Stunning visuals!

This crashed AMD drivers or wayland compositor on lelux, so had to watch on youtube but I like it. Lots of detail and great soundtrack too.

The nodes got abused on this one. A polished powerful statement given this is your Notch demo debut, and as deepr says.. there aren't nodes that drag and drop this shit into a scene, it takes much more than that! Different type of coding.. thats all. Would have liked to see more content and less words though ;)

There sure was a bit of "Notch show-off", but all-in-all it's great! Love the disco yeti, especially how life-like it moves!

Sure thing, it's technically very impressive, but as I haven't worked with Notch myself yet, I can't judge how difficult it has been to implement this using Notch. Therefore I will not give this a thumb for now and I might have it a thumb once I've played a bit with Notch.

Doesn't work on Win7.... YES I know I know, but every previous one works, even "Something in the Grass", also based on NOTCH 0.9.23;
Geforce 1070Ti, .NET 4.7.2, driver 473.02, recent C++2015-2019.
The loading screen stops under the "C"... memory leak ? If I Ctrl-Alt-Del; the process takes 15 GB RAM...

Hm the developement version worked here on Win7SP1 GTX1070OC..

Hey, thanks for the quick reaction.
Yes, SP1x64 here too, 16 GB RAM. Weird. I tried "windowed" at 1024*768 (instead of fullscreen 1920*1080) and after a moment the window closed itself. No log in the temp folder. (btw, #driver 473.04 of course)
Yep, STILL hesitating to cross to 10. When you see that DXVK 1.10 Async can make wonders... (Elden Ring, God of War...)

Just so every 1 knows - final of this IS COMING with some nice optimizations etc and so on. With those it should run OK on GF1060 level GPUs and up, in 720p at least.

Extremely shiny and well made in the beginning, and the motion capture is a nice touch. Unfortunately once the fluid simulation comes into play it becomes really messy and "hey look we can do fluid simulation so here's some fullscreen bukkake in you face". That's too bad since otherwise the bling is right up there with the best of 'em!
Obviously still a thumb up, including for the music.
