Uuuu, fantastic job !!! Congratulations for taking first place and respect to the whole team.
8 bit is super strong in Poland this year. First Arise and Samar on their C64 event. Now Atari legends rocking the Lost Party.. amazing!
Lot's of coder pr0n there, even a Doom (or wolf but with doom sprites) engine.
The Force is strong with this one! Congratz Guyz, OSSOM demo!!!
fantastic job!
Fantastic demo! Cooperation between NG and Zelax gave the result :) It's great to see that "Swiety" has returned to the Atari XL / XE scene. I got to know him personally, and he is not only a great coder, but a fantastic person too - it's a shame he lives so far away! ;) The part with Doom will be remembered for a long time and it will be hard to beat it for the next few years :) But who knows? NG can also surprise you, so we keep our fingers crossed for the next entries! Take care. MSB loves You.
Solid
really great!
great one!
Excellent demo!
congrats. some very good effects
FSO Polonez Rulez!!
Big pleasure to watch and listen. NG shows up in XL/XE world with bunch of new ideas showing that it is still a lot to achieve on this platform. I especially like a scroll with big letters masking partly colorful graphics with Atari. Hope you stay longer with A8 as it deservers more fresh meat like this :) Congrats to NG & Zelax for winning the compo... and now I know that our forests are not so safe and better to keep some special "tools" in the trunk! ;)
Sorry, but 1MB RAM usage on a 6502 machine from the 70s is not okay
Mixed feelings about this one. It definitely had some impressive parts, but the pacing was all over the place, with some parts running way too long. And considering the demo requires 1MB of RAM, it would be nice to see some transitions between effects instead of black screens (that at worst lasted several seconds).
welcome back... some great parts and yes. Valid points Britelite said.
just for the non A8 tech guys... most "1 MB" demos or 320kb RAM demos are used most for file caching as Atari doesn't likes much playing music while loading from disk. e.g. compare our Arsantica 3 demo (which runs on stock 64kb machine with considered 5,25 disk drive connected) with those "big demos". 2 of the music channels are used as timer for the serial IO handling. so... that's why me tend to do Cartridge based demos on A8 nowadays... :D
just my 2 cents.

And I forgot the thumb :D
@Heaven.. That would be a valid point, accept that this time i have the sense they are using a lot of that memory for petscii-style animations in gfx9 mode (basically all 3d vector stuff yout see). Given their last Atari Lynx demo lynx was100% animation, i was highly skeptical of this one as a lot of things seem off (like the 8x8 petscii animation style character slopes), but i am ofcourse open to be proven wrong.
In that regard i vastly prefer your work Heaven :b

Just to be clear. I don't want to make any accusations ,as this could just be a wild theory based on my observations of their last demo. Aside from the Ram usage and some design issues that britelite mentioned, it IS a fine demo and i hope to see more atari 8bit stuff from new generation! .
Wow!
Thanks for the clarifications. I stand corrected. Great work on the 3D!
Great, not as impressive as Reditus, still some great stuff here!
Impressive, just impressive. And... well, impressive. Applause!
Some really technically impressive parts in this one!
Awesome prod, that tridi.. and really cool doom music mixed to the main one.
I did wait for a statement here, as the Demo really is f.cking great.
But "britelite" is correct in some cases. Black screens don't really aid any demos.
The Atari has a lot features that need very low resources, and could be put there to exchange the black screens, and to have the demo more fluent in the presentation.
Remember, you only need to set 2 registers, to have a completely different screen...
So, inbetween the "big" parts, it is possible to do things that make the intermission short... ;)

emkay: so you tell NG how to make better demos? :D
great job guys
great job guys
Faaaaaaaaaaaantastic job! ;)
Hands down, the best atari demo!
Is that a VW Passat?
wow!
A nice demo who sadly reminds me of the flaws of the pokey soundchip. Thumb anyway.
Nice prod. Atari 8 bits seems to be a good plate-forme to see nice demos.
OK.
ah, so superogue's comments on this prod is the reason why this SOLO_NG fella has been down-thumbing random tic80 prods with some idiotic comment about animations. Prods which superogue was only superficially involved in. Way to keep a stick wedged up your ass.
This prod might even be great but i'll never enjoy it because of your asinine childish attitude. Grow the fuck up.

Awesome demo, nice tunes and impressive Doom part.
Pretty cool for the machine.
Waouh !! It's really an amazing work !!! Artistic & technics !!! oO So well optimised !! A very High quality demo on Atari XL 1088 !!!!!!
With no doubts, you could make it evern better with more time, but this is already much impressive !

Very good demo! Nice to see Zelax back after (iIrc) many years.
The "Doom" part looked, from the introductions' clip arts, as if it would be "Cytadela" part ;).
Massive rubber-glenz routine! And all the 3D stuff. Looks like some brand new routines!
The music is also very nice.
The small "oh.." from my point of view is about the RAM and some gfx. The big screens are good, althou some "clip parts" look like if they were not finished. And the endpart fonts - they looks as if they were automatically scaled and not pixeled.
But in all, it is a pretty decent demo released in the last few years. Congratulations! =)
