Congrats but strange idea to fix a demo of more than 30years. I'm looking for a new one now and eager to read the documentation

Nice surprise. The big manual on CRTC would be interesting to have the English translation when it's finished.

Oh the memories! I had a GT65 green screen the first time I saw this back in the day!

New CRTC technique unlocked + Amstrad CPC CRTC Compendium = AMAZING
To me it's a new milestone in Amstrad CPC demoscene history for sure.

Decades of CRTC experiments shared to everyone into 171 pages, so what wrote Norecess is really just that. I read of course just a nothing from the compendium, but what an amazing achivement. From the intro if I understand, this tech can do a per line effect of 1 line with all the VRAM in a better way than before, but also work on CRTC 2?? It might go unnoticed on pouet while I think deserves to be in the top. And a big thank you.
(I saw elsewhere that it was going to be translated in ingleesh, enjoy :))

There is also a simple Line per Line (repeating the very first line on and on) algo which was supposed to be impossible because CRTC-2 hangs when you set block number and number of blocks registers to zero

that was before someone tried to set those registers to zero on the very last line of the logical screen :)

Very nice work, this is not easy to be motivated enough to update old code ! Amazing demo is the first french CPC megademo, now everyone can see it on a real CPC, thanks :-)

This improved technique (RVLL) only applies to the CRTC 0 and 2.
On the CRTC 1, 3 and 4, it was already possible to access more than 50% of the video RAM using another existing technique (RVI), although no one ever demonstrated this.

Another technique that consumes less CPU (RLAL) is used in the majority of CPC demos, but this process can only access 12% of the video RAM.
This technique now works on the CRTC 2 with a small loss of CPU compared to when it is applied to other CRTCs.

Mandatory thumb up for whoever knows about amstrad History and technics.

This is not only having a deep look at 30+ years old code. With "the Compendium" this is a complete re-engineering work to understand how the things really happens inside - on all CRTC versions (but also gate array...). This also kicks some butts (mine included) : what have we done those last years ? Now Longshot is back and delivers a huge and rigorous work that no-one did before.
