I really enjoyed the one effect, or whatever you want to call it. Very attention grabbing, but it either wasn't enough variety for my tastes, or just too long for the limited visuals.
like this piece :)

boring at start but gets more interesting at the end. still it's too short.

the only nice demo at simulaatio's "euroopan paskin democompo", but probably could be more fine if there would have been more than one effect. Although don't know really because I have seen it on a big screen only and the projector wasnt' adjusted very well. In that particular showing it seemed to be very boring.
rulez added on the 2003-11-10 01:04:37 by Random- Random-
The music really hits my taste, kickass! For the visual side it's definitly not bad, but it lacks something.

Nice idea, but having seen the same idea done in Relic by NVX, this looks rather bland.

great stuff, worth a rulez for sure, but please give us more than 1 scene next time! I know it's part 1 only, but splitting a demo into 10 parts like that is only going to win you more prizes. Hmm....

Well. I was hoping that it would've looked better on my monitor than it "looked" on the bigscreen. Unfortunately, it didn't.
If to do only one part, better make it look good. Music saves from "Gladiator-had-a-bad-day"-checkbox.

The real one has a lot better definition, depth, framerate and colours. Sadly you can't see it anymore in our lighten up cities.

At the party I found it beautiful but boring. Now it seemed somewhat less boring. I like the way the music fits the visuals (but the bassdrum is too loud, though)
Pt1 is ok+, looking forward to see pt2..

boring, the sound is dull trance crap and it's in no way entertaining

I have to be fucked up... I was convinced this was the best mfx demo since a long while :)
Anyway, the good point is that we prefer to have a wide range of comments instead of a long boring pile of thumbs up and "kewl"...

"it made me think"? what's with that? :) an okay demo, albeit a little empty. the music sounds like something jean michel jarre could do if he just picked up some heavier 909 bd's and "took a stroll on the wild side".

if only all coders spent this much time tune their effects to perfection. Best "space" atmosphere ever.. Great touch to distort stuff as you get closer to the singularity.. Seems to be reasonable that stuff fucks up a bit near such phenomenons. Whats to be the next part of the universe series then? How about some Gamma Ray bursts ? :)
rulez added on the 2003-11-30 14:55:53 by loaderror loaderror
Really good for one effect. I don't care if it was short because the music was fairly good. Excellent atmosphere.

Part 2 is better, but this one is cool as well. It's amzing that even though this has only one scene, it makes you stick to the screen for minutes..

having one *great* scene is 1000 times better than having many average scenes.

music have potential, but only one camera move is too poor and becomes boring.
The first time I saw it I pressed escape after one minute or so, it was quite boring...

THEN I watched it again a few days ago and I actually found it excellent. Totally hypnotic, thanks to the music.

This demo is just stunning in so many ways. At its core it's an oldschool one effect intro - and that one effect is just a 3D object in the middle of the screen with a camera rotating around it. How the hell MFX manage to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up with such a simple concept is beyond me. The music is simply great too and syncs perfectly with the visuals.

Then on top of all that they called in "Part 1", making it obvious that this was just the start of something big - the awesome universe serise
