Wow! Great buildup, awesome direction, the visual quality, super cool ideas (the greetings!) so many little details, blew me away in the compo!

If this is not the 1st, I'll eat my socks.

What v3nom said. I was blown away because of the lighting and materials quality at some scenes, music and direction fit a lot, and the funny credits were very enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately, there is no card on Earth to move some of the scenes and framedropping at some points was a little bit distracting.

A case of raymarching kinda overstaying its welcome. Don't get me wrong, the distance fields are very impressive, but I can't but feel that they're still in the end a hindrance compared to other methods. The opening shot is quite gorgeous, but a lot of the later ones allowing more detail to pass through mostly don't. I'm not sure what the narrative was trying to convey but at the compo I couldn't gather anything meaningful from it.

Pending further reassessment, but initially left me a bit cold despite the commendable effort.

Super prod

The second particle accelerator part was totally disconnected for me. Considering the title I so much hoped for a jade rendered room getting smashed to pieces or something like that. Still great effects though

I waited for about 10 years for someone to make this.

Technically impressive, but there no coherency between scenes and no direction. needs to be polished

This demo rules. Content-wise it is a step forward in many ways, especially in modeling and making some of the most entertaining and cleverly incorporated greetings since Engage (but if you make the final, please consider changing the Conspiracy Theory paper issue number to 23). Some of the scenes were outright breathtaking and showcased incredible attention to detail in trying to make everything look authentic. But I also agree with noby and others as well in terms of direction—the demo indeed feels as if it goes nowhere narratively, so if it doesn't end up first that'd probably be why.

+ some scenes, newspaper, long speech in 64k
- some other scenes, sluggishness

still quite impressive so thumb

Technically very impressive and the greets were fantastic so it gets a thumb, but the framerate and incoherent narrative definitely let it down.

Another compliment to science. Thank you very much for this marvelous demo. It is great that in troubled times the work of those who try to solve the mysteries of the universe is honoured by those who deal with the soul of mathematics.

The particles towards the end (around 3:30) ended up solid red here (Radeon RX 570).

Apart from that: Wow. (and the GM.DLS birds are strong in this one :))

the forest scene had me on the edge of my seat, then it went quickly downhill.. or down cliff rather
The beginning was beautiful and then it went into standard sci-fi visuals. The newspaper was a really nice touch though.
rulez added on the 2019-04-24 22:00:07 by Preacher Preacher
The initial shot had me excited but then it just gradually got less refined and more tacked together, culminating in the last 30 seconds that was just... last decade.

Point Blank was a much better example of pretty much the same story but more tastefully done.

(Oh yeah the thumb is for the effort/content, which is pretty obvious.)

Great to see you guys doing 64k's! Lots of great content here, stunning shots, and nice material models. Greetings scenes were also excellent! Lots of great stuff here. Downsides would certainly be the framerate which was hard to ignore in the compo, as well as the aliasing (like I have any room to talk here :P), but those are relatively minor complaints, especially for a first 64k. Very very well done, and I look forward to future "big" intros! :)

Content wise very excellent, just a shame about the framerate/aliasing during the compo. Still a very solid thumbs up.

The 64k dress fits you well, LJ! I really dig the outdoor scenes, especially the forest and the light mood there. You should do something like this more often now.

the more i watch this one the more i love it. as much as i love dope on wax for being so polished, at the end of the day its just an effect show, and this is more than just that.

It builds up to a climax that unfortunately never happens.
But all the small details on the way make it really enjoyable.

it has potential, but the fps, graphical fidelity and over all raymarch-iness felt a bit too unpolished or something?
