Haha, if you watch this on a slower computer the MIDI goes out of sync and starts to give a bit a hilarious glitch-hoppy shuffle.
Otherwise it's impressive but I feel the same way about the Second Reality 8k - the original's fidelity is missing here.

When I realized that this was 1k and not 4k... I was really surprised!
Haha, Gargaj yes the music timer checks each frame if a certain step threshold has passed and it is obviously all in the same loop as the graphics call so if the frame takes too long to render the music is delayed then quickly speeds up to get back in sync with the global timer. =/
As Noby hinted I made this a while ago and was unsure whether to release it or not since I am not happy with the quality but I thought Puryx would get a kick out of seeing it at TRSAC. As far as immitating Elevated perfectly it came down to a choice between getting a very close visual copy with no music or sacrifice the visuals to get the music somewhat correct. The main focus from the start was to get full tracked music into 1k.
I have also just put a 1280x720 version in the archive now since most people probably don't have a fast enough gfx card to run the full one. I also did a "faster" 1280x720 version which loses some quality (temporal surface shimmering and low iter count artifacts).

Since this wasn't specifically announced as 1k in the compo, I mostly had the feeling of "why make a worse remake of elevated", but as 1k it totally rocks.

You have to make compromises for an 1k, but I think this one makes good compromises. It works as a tribute—I wouldn't recommend to someone who doesn't already know and love the original.

Not actually surprised this is possible, the soundtrack reproduction is what really drives this home. Thumb up for doing it, and here's to hoping we don't get any more remakes :)

Actually, this is one of the few proper demos released recently. Stuffing all this in 1k, particularly the music. That's what demos used to be all about for me, the "this wasn't supposed to be possible... guess how it was done" aspect. Makes me think it was actually coded, not click-click-clicked away in some sort of a demomaker tool.

technically really great, though it wants a bit too much for 1k: it tries (and succeeds) to do so many things which the original did that the result is a bit lacking in flow and progression because, well, 1k. other great 1ks with simpler content are more pleasant or interesting to watch. still: amazing!
