Kinda slow on youtube and not very visible even. Wondering if it improves on a P3/P4 booted in DOS, screenshot looks interesting though.

Updated version runs okayish (still slow) on my old P3 laptop with XP, so i guess it is quite fast on a modern machine. The "draw every 4th pixel" approach might even result in a decent watchable framerate, but looks very inferior the whole thing. Weak thumb up ;)

Now make it fast, colored, and 256b :D

Fixed version looks good. Obviously could come down in size, so a good challenge for 256b. Probably won't get close but who knows? Thumbup to counter Sir's premature thumbulation ;)

Optimized some of the easier stuff, got to 427 bytes, changes are (out)commented.

One would have to rethink the algorithms as well to reach 256b i think ;)

Very interesting, HellMood. If you remove the entire lighting loop you can get it down to 314 bytes (keeping your modifications), so this should open up further optimizations oppertunities - removing unused constants and such. My original plan for a 256b featured no lights, as I mention in the readme/nfo, so this might be something I'll work on. But to be honest, now that I know DOSBOX has some serious speed problems, I'll aim for something native next time (at least under XP's emulation) and try to exploit that in a new demo, aiming for 256b this time.

:)
I think rotating cube with two color lights fast in dosbox in 256b is not hard to do.
I can make it if someone wants it, that two colors do you prefer? =)

That's better!

Cool, but 512 bytes is really too much for flickering and grayscale.
