Another great SAM Coupé demo! Yeah! With better design it could simply rock. What a pity that both SAM demos weren't shown on such multi 8-bit party :( Really cannot understand that. For such cool releases it's worth to organise another event. If only...

Wow, two good Sam Coupe demos!
This has effects I have not seen in sam coup, for the first time, like rotozoomer, tunnel, flat polygons and others.
I am enjoying again the rich palette of Sam Coupe, some effects look like they came from AtariST.
But of course, it's too slow. Most of the stuff.
Maybe a lower res or smaller window, but ok, it looks impressive visually.

Also please utube it :)

The second great demo for SAM! Difficult to say which one is better. I only regret demos were not shown at Forever...

Thanks for YouTubing this demo.

Very nice :)

It looks indeed more like an Atari ST or Amiga demo than an 8 bit one!

Imo, the speed of the effects is not that bad, just work on the timings and transitions (don't keep the same effect for too long), try to build on this demo to attract people to help you on the next demo.

Wow, two good Sam Coupe releases at the same event! Such a pity that they were not shown, if there were problems with the video hookup to the HW, at least show them running in an emulator from a PC or something, not showing them at all at the party is a disgrace.

Anyway, back to the demo - I agree with Optimus that a better tradeoff effect size/resolution vs framerate could have been done in some cases, but still impressive coding.
The vectorpart was ace, the progression of objects transforming gives me quite a bit of "Edge of disgrace"-vibes! :)

looks like a lot of horsepower is under the coupe's hood.

This is goergous. I was asking myself - whaddahec, whatkinda hardware it is running on? =)
Great graphics, very nice, full of happiness catchy tune and really decent code. All of that give a pleasant presentation worth to see and admire!

I have not seen the time passing by!
Moar, moar MOOOARR... Please ;)).

I've just uploaded a video of this demo on YouTube of it running on my SAM Coupe with my prototype Mayhem Accelerator, so it's running at 20MHz with fast memory.

Excellent coding Antony! Is there a webpage for DTA or could you drop me a message via my website? Would be great to talk to you about the demo for including news in SAM Revival magazine etc.

Regards,

Colin / Quazar (www.samcoupe.com)

During creation of the demo I wished a faster CPU and I interested how it will run on Mayhem Accelerator.

Now I know it, thank you
Antony / DTA
Happy to run code on my SAM with Mayhem Accelerator and record video.

Thanks for your email. Replied earlier.

Hope you have more SAM Coupe demos soon :)

Colin / Quazar (www.samcoupe.com)

Nice visuals! (framerate and pace are ok) Another 8-bit from the late 80'ies which mimicks 16-bit? didn't know it, thanks for demo and links.

I try to run this again from my Sam Coupe. I use now GreaseWeazle to write Sam Coupe stuff. I write it fine but later in Sam I get message "No DOS image" or something when I type boot. I know normally there has to be a DOS files inside but I don't know what in this disk I downloaded and how to add them.

This demo does not need DOS, it contains a boot loader, but the file "AutoLoadSM" must be the first on the disk. Simply use the command ´BOOT´ (Press F9). If a DOS is already booted in Sam, the demo will be loaded under the name "AUTO*" and will automatically run. Of course, with DOS you can also use the command ´LOAD 1´ or ´LOAD "AutoLoadSM" CODE´.
