Very nice show, could be mistaken for an Amiga demo :) Raycaster routine is pure gold.

I thought it's for ZX Evolution when I saw a Wolf part first.
Can't believe ATM Turbo 2 can achieve this.

In this demo ATM2 looks and sounds really just like IBM PC (in 1993) or Amiga 500. So the potential of the platform is very high. Keep on demoing!

Nice track yerz, loved the scrolling pic and smooth wolfenstein

The hardware seems quite capable. By the way, is the Z80 at 7 or 14 MHz? Anyway, the Wolfenstein part seems pretty well optimized.
rulez added on the 2013-04-23 11:55:03 by viznut/pwp viznut/pwp
On real HW, z80 runs at 14MHz with wait-states. NeoGS is used ONLY for music playing, no calculations on it this time.

I love unusual hardware, and this fits the bill, I have never even heard of an ATM Turbo 2 before seeing this! Wolfenstein part is ace.

@Sdw, stock ATM Turbo 2 of 1993 (with all-Russian chips) is even capable of playing CD video with sound! Discovered in 2005 - too late...
great stuff

Fuck yeah Rainbow Dash 3D :O

Fixed rainbow beam in upper border for one frame before the panorama. The download location is the same.
Nice, though I can't really judge the technical side without knowing what the level of this machine compares to :)

Press D in Wolfenstein part to control. WASD to move, OP or Kempston mouse to rotate.
fuck the ATM

Given the resolution of the graphics in this demo, it is immediately clear that several effects here are absolutely top notch for an 8-bit platform. This includes the 16c raycaster and the parallax effect at the start. At the same time, the "modern" looks do not hide the fact that this is a very oldschool demo in heart. It does not care about the flow, the progression, or the culmination. It just presents a set of non-trivial solutions to specific technical challenges. Hence, it is easy to appreciate, but very hard to love. The only thing I truly love here is the amazing soundtrack.

Nice demo with great music (even though it gets a bit repetitive after a while), Wolfenstein part looks great!

@Preacher, the hardware is overclocked ZX Spectrum clone with extra RAM paging ability (any 16K bank in any 16K window), palette of 16 colours out of 64, and with additional screen modes:
1) 320x200 raster, two pixels per byte with some sophisticated addressing.
2) 640x200 multicolor (attribute byte per 8x1 block), sophisticated addressing too.

No IRQs, DMAs and other stuff. Simple as brick.

This works on ATM Turbo 7.10, ZX Evolution and Pentagon 2.666.
moroz1999> Can't believe ATM Turbo 2 can achieve this.
I also cannot because this is NOT ATM Turbo 2.
added on the 2014-02-01 02:20:05 by TS-Labs TS-Labs
Take real ATM Turbo 2+ and run it. IT WORKS.
I bet you've got some kind of custom ATM Turbo 2. :D
Oh wait, in theory, to run this demo under 50 FPS, you will need a machine that has TWICE as much power as the real ATM Turbo 2 (4,75 MHz). It works, yeah, but given that its' CPU is already overclocked, the framerate won't get any better on that machine at all.

Besides, ATM Turbo 2 isn't the only thing that makes it possible. ATM2 is pretty much the minimal requirement to watch this demo - ZX Evolution would be most definitely the recommended one (which is 14 MHz w/ WAITs).
don't understand zx platform war/differences here, but the atm turbo seems to be a cool platform. nice effect! this is cool!

Some fix:
- fixed colours on DDp's palette scheme (Pentagon 2.666) in text print part and the outro.
- better 7 MHz sync.
- 49 Hz (ZX Evo) and 50 Hz (ATM Turbo 2, Pentagon 2.666) versions.
What introspec said.

Where is Spectrum version? Add it or remove the tag.
sucks added on the 2015-01-03 21:42:26 by TS-Labs TS-Labs
This TRD is for Spectrum. Use any mainstream Russian emulator.
Stop, stop. I've got a real ZX in my house, it is 128k, has AY and it shows me fico instead of your demo. What am I doing wrong?
added on the 2015-01-03 22:00:33 by TS-Labs TS-Labs
Read the requirements of this demo.
So, you are telling me that I, having a native ZX cannot run demo for ZX?
added on the 2015-01-03 22:05:58 by TS-Labs TS-Labs
So, Pentagon demos that do not run properly on a real ZX Spectrum should probably also have the Spectrum label removed?
added on the 2015-01-03 22:08:08 by britelite britelite
You can't run an Atari 800 XL 192K demo having just 8K RAM, can you?
Strictly saying: yes. But most Pentagon demos will run on ZX 128k one way or the other - some will actually fail, some will glitch, but most will run.

guys, you start flamewar about ripping gfx, but demo has a lot of ripped grafiks: textures in Alonestaine part ripped from wolf3d, dinobubble ripped to.

grab deserved

Personally I do not care does it have ANY relation to ZX, ZY or even ZZ. Please be so kind and understandable and STOP this childish dispute.

I will not be mistaken If I say that the music is a half of the success of this demo! Very enjoyable and relaxing presentation!

BTW, I wanted to thumb it down, because no relation to the Amiga500 OCS with 1MB (0,5CHIP and 0,5fakeFAST) but well... who cares?.
