Nice little demo! a completely different style than the one which has so far appeared in demos on an 8-bit Atari. I see some results straight from the C64. Fast, full-screen zoomer is great!

I've heard of this mythical demo a few years back by a C64 scener (who shall remain unkown of course).

As for the demo itself, all I have to mention is that I totally forgot that this was atari 800 hardware - presumably someone got an st or amiga, doubled its base frequency and stuck a pokey for sounds! Hats off and all that :).

Great lesson from the master of zoom & rotate. Welcome on the dark side, master Graham :-)

Now somebody has to go and fix the Atari manual
Quote:
Graphics 9: 16 shades of the background color

... unless you use VSCROLL and a good pattern for the win!

for those who are not able to run on real hardware or on an emulator, I made a video and I put on You Tube: http://youtu.be/Ab_FkwhK_b8 , it is worth to see in real hardware.YouTube only allows video with 25 frames per second ;/

Finally :)

Wow, Oxyron on the Atari8bit. I see many of Graham's routines here ported and gain from the speed of the Atari. And the colors are more! The final rotozoomer reminded me of AtariST 4*4 rotozoomers. Too big and smooth for 8bit.

I must say this is cool, it brings quite fresh air to Atari demo productions. And good to see it at Forever, it rose up the demo compo quality. Cool music btw.

We've talked about Atari 800XL with Graham at X'2012. I know this was coming. I'm glad it's finally out. Very clean execution. Thumbs up my friend.

I guess Seban will upload a new video as the video is not 100% correct in terms of emulation (f.e. scroller jumping and plasma only half screen etc). so please run it in Altirra or Atari800MacX. ;)
Hm. I'm a bit twisted. The FX are good and look fresh somehow.... but it ends immediately. Also the tune sound more like a tune than from many other productions. Thumbs up, if this is - just the start -
rulez added on the 2013-03-18 17:23:36 by emkay emkay
no piggie for Graham, still for me it feels like "late 90's c64 effects called..." on atari :) fex. that plasma could change the raster colors atleast if not a straight copy ? the rotzoom was nice tho. very little effort on design for 2013. could have been a killer in 97.

just last 2 cents... as far as I see Graham used so called VSCROL tricks as Jac mentioned... so actually it looks "90s" but uses one of the last found features of the chipset... I guess first used in Numen.
.oO.

thats quite something! :)
a bit more design could have made it even kewler, but we all know you used all of the rastertime for your effects. :)
