Supadope!
Trailblazer+++ Very cool!
Cute little game.
MASSIVE!!
nice tunnel-effect game
nnice! getting back the faith in /|\ :>
Really good gfx in both game title and ingame!
fresh!! i mean, not a clone, or a conversion or whatever. an original concept and skillfully executed as one may expect from taquart =) rock on!
Great game!
The thumb MUST go up!
Watched a video => excellent !!!
and then i played=>excellent gameplay and a very addictive game !!! both thumbs are up !
btw, this game is the first game which really uses stereo effects; I mean not only for the music. The ball positioning can be heard (left , middle, right). That's really really cool for the platform :)
OK i didn't play it but judging from the video the music and sync is excellent, and it flows really smoothly. that in itself deserves a thumb, and i bet that the game is awesome. gots to find me an emulator now...
This game rocks, nice idea to have trailblazer in 3d! :)
Stingray: it's not more 3D than the original Trailblazer, is it ?
ofcourse there is no "80bit" floating point calculations. But all necessary is done to have a real look & feel of 3D.
And, ofcourse this game is more 3D than Trailblazer, because Trailblazer uses some raster FX and Sprite Collisions, while Yoomp creates graphically a "real" Tube you're passing...

what now ?
The underlying rendering technique ( rasters, planes, chunky-ish, ... ) and level storage ( anyway it's just a tilemap in both cases ) is completely irrelevant to the perspective effect.
Beside, a plane is "as 3D" as a tube. There's no frakking difference in the perspective effect.
A tube is more funky and allows to wrap around the (2D) tilemap, but that's it. Nothing more, nothing else. It might, possibly maybe, feel better as it cover more screen than the usual half screen raycasted plane.
Anyway, I really like the idea of Yoomp ( wrapping TrailBlazer on a tube ), and might actually implement it in JS just for fun.

p01:
That's exactly what I meant with "nice to have trailblazer in 3d". What you're doing here is nitpicking to the max! Yes, sure, 3d formula is 3d formula yet this version of trailblazer is much cooler than the original just because of "more" or "better" or "advanced" 3d or however I should write it that you're pleased... Don't tell me you didn't understand what I mean...

And to continue the nit-picking:
If that would be true, they'd both look exactly the same. Apparently they don't.

well trail blazer gameplay's just awfull compared to yoomp
Stingray: Haven't seen Trailblazer in a while, I wasn't sure if you really meant what you wrote. Hence the interrogation in my post. Then emkay came in with, well, schabernack.
thats rock n roll
Eh, what to say - HARDCORE piece of code !!! A8 rulez 4ever.
just great! nothing more to say
It just ROCKS! BIG thumb up guys! :)
i downloaded a8e 0.1 emulator and have put all files noted in the readme.txt in the directory. i've put yoomp.atr file there. created file yoomp.bat with "a8e.exe yoomp.atr" string. when i run it i get "D1:" string. how to run this game? help me.
dir
run yoomp.xex
Also get atari800win plus ... it's much better

after run yoomp.xex it asks "Hex?" :) what to answer to run the game. :))))
you don't need to type in "run". As the command to execute yoomp.xex just type:
yoomp.xex (enter)
If Yoomp executable was named like "yoomp.com" the Atari would recognized the executable automatically like MSDOS did :)

This game is marvellous and has a very moody soundtrack!
Make sure to disable the BASIC or it won' run in atari800!

After 3 days of NOT turning of the Atari I played fought my way through all the tubes. Can't remember that I played a game for such a long period. Maybe Doom3 but, hey think of that comparison 2DVD vs. 50KB :-)
very good game.. musics, graphics, idea and gameplay are all outstanding - taquart quality :)
Cool game guys!
wow
Using a demo effect concept that looks so smooth and cool alone, for an 8bit game, so effectively is TEH SHIT!!! That plays so nicely and the graphics are great!
i'm not into games but i decided to give this one a shot and im glad i did. the overall concept is great but the feel of the ball control" is fantastic, which isnt east to achieve at such low resolutions (i guess)
the fact that the ball seems to be bouncing (hitting floor) in time with the beat of the music is great. i'm not sure how intentional this aspect was/is but it really helps "place you in the moment", and draws the music into focus and gives a nice sense of a more immersive whole. much in the sameway as Rez on the Dreamcast does.
in addition to all that, the music and gfx stand in their own right and are very high quality.
this is a great little game, well done!

This game is so well done all over all, the presentation, the fun, the playability and yes, it´s own internetsite ;)

That's a very good game.
great stuff indeed
Best game-adaption of a demo-effect I've seen on any 8-bitter! :)
excellent game!
great tunnel game
what a shame i didn't commented on this yet (only thumbed it): this was the first thing i tried on my atari 800xl (which i gathered somewhere on a czech market) after i soldered my sio2pc and i was totally blewn away. outstanding graphics, pumping music which is perfectly synched to the gameplay and motivates like hell, great gameplay with lot's of extra features, many levels... WOW. haven't had so much fun with an game since ages. :) thanks and keep it up!
very nice game!
I can't play this with my sio2sd... i turn off high speed mode, but nothing. WTF!? 130xe NTSC loading screen hangs
Don't know about the playability (seems very difficult!), but it looks gorgeous!
One of the best games i've ever played!
An excellent game! Worht playing on the atari copy-party on the REAL machine!
Swietna robota Messieurs! Thank you very much for such a cute stuff!

Amazing engine!
Heh, I recently played this on my AtariXE65 and is awesome!
I enjoyed playing this. Great music, nice groove to get into, together with a great visual sync for just THAT experience.
bounce
Fat game!
My favourite 8-bit Atari game. There's a C64 conversion, but I prefer the original version.
