Is this new? Because I think I have seen this as a kid before, as a demo for this pseudo graphics mode (16 colors + 16 greyscale) ... ?

In fact the first one I see in APAC mode. Simple but nice. And you did assembly at school ? On Atari? Man, I definitely had the the wrong school :-)
